I got a 350W, it's decent, good intro, but next year or when this breaks I will go 1500W

I have an ebike that does 20 mph cruising 22 peddling.. I wish it was faster.

I prefer disc brakes so if wheels go out of round the brakes are still good.

designed for riders 5'9 and above

seat isn't comfy

I would hold out on buying this one unless you needed it for transportation right now.

Yeah, if they couldn't be bothered to include mechanical disk brakes at a minimum I'd hate to see what else they cheaped out on. Hard pass.

Are rim brakes really that bad on a $500 bike? When we were kids we didn't even have brakes. We stopped Fred Flintstone style or you jammed your foot over the tire behind the front forks.

This seems pretty good for a first/entry level ebike.

Besides it says-

The VOLT's light and durable steel frame accommodates 700c tires, up to 220 lbs, and feels like gliding on air.

Looks suspiciously like the hurley bike that was on sale awhile back, rim brakes and all. Probably the same generic Chinese Ebike offered to a bunch of different sellers. I want to say that was under $550 during previous deals? Similar/identical motor and battery stats. Called Thruster, or something?

My Ride1Up Roadster V2 has rim brakes and they work just fine. I upgraded to the Kool Stop E-Bike pads and it now stops better than my Ride1Up Lmt'd with hydraulic brakes and 220mm Galfer rotors

Ever tried stopping after getting any water on your rims? Smilie

There is nothing wrong with good rim brakes. Good rim brakes are way better than cheap disc brakes.

However, like others have said, this bike doesn't exactly exude quality. I think most people that this bike (single-speed ebike) would suit would be far better off spending their money on a normal bike and getting a better frame, components and gears!

In my state, 750W is the max it can be to still be considered a bicycle. Something to check anyway.

It's not electric, but my Cannondale road bike has rim brakes that work just fine in the rain. You just have to plan ahead a little and do a light braking first to squeegee the water off before you actually need to stop. Been riding road bikes with rim brakes for a long time, and wet rims have never caused a problem yet.

I would skip this one since for an extra $100 you should get:
- removable LiPo4 10 Amp battery;
- disk brakes;

IMO disk brake isn't better than the traditional brake. Only gain I could see is when riding in mud/puddle/stream. The disk is high enough that mud and water isn't likely to touch it.

The traditional brake is simpler and that's what I like, it could easily touch the water and need more power when wet but otherwise it need a lot less power than the disk brake. Why the disk brake need the mechanical assist to get more power.
