Yes, these are cheap, but they're also 3-4 years old. Figure batteries may not be in top condition. And CPUs are several generations old; fine for standard business work but don't expect these to be the best for gaming or video creation/editing.

Likely these are off-lease business laptops. Not TC'ing, just know what you're getting into.

How on earth is an $800 Macbook a relevant alternative to a $300 refurbished Windows laptop?

I also don't understand the 'outdated' concept. An 8th gen i7 will do literally any task that 99.9999999% of computer users do today and for the next 5 years. And 32GB of RAM is a ridiculous amount for even a brand-new laptop. What are people doing with their computers that the above isn't enough? My only concern with this refurbished machine would be battery life.

That's some sound logic right there. True words of wisdom.

Instead of buying a 2 year old used car for $12k you should instead buy a $36k new car because it's better.

hard to buy an 8th gen.
I do want like a personal laptop for teaching that I wouldn't mind dropping or spilling water on, though
Why is it hard to buy a 8th Gen?
Also, maybe just dont spill or drop your cheap or expensive electronics??

Great thanks !
So I ran it and got the report.
What exactly we should look for in case of these refurbs to request a battery replacement within 90 days warranty period?

No shat. Double the price better get double the performance. That's like saying "don't get a Toyota, get a Tesla instead".
I know right?
The $800 laptop better comes with 8 GHz speed since these $400 are close to 4 GHz...lol

I know none of these are gaming laptops, but does anyone know which model would be the best for some light gaming? Much appreciated!!!

I've bought through their refurb outlet before and been generally satisfied. There's some good deals on this sale.

I'm using a different Dell Latitude (refurb 8th gen Intel i7, 32 Gb RAM) as a Plex server using USB hard drives. It works great, easy to manage, and survives any power blips because it has a battery. Since Plex is not taxing, I use it during the day for misc. tasks as a jump box/remote desktop platform when I'm away from the house, to download content for Plex, and as a home backup machine (to the USB-connected drives).

I used to have a home NAS or server configured w/a UPS, but this takes the headache out of replacing UPS batteries and configuring the shutdown process if/when I lose power.
Remember to cap the battery charge (in Bios or in Dell software, recommend the former), and also use ThrottleStop to undervolt the processor, if you haven't already.

Beast of a PC? This doesn't even have a dedicated GPU.

Tell me how it will run the latest games. It just has a lot of RAM which is cheap in itself and only good for handling a lot of VMs.

the average consumer isn't playing GPU intensive video games. Get a ridiculously expensive gaming rig if you need one. It doesn't make this a bad PC

To be fair, these are off lease Corollas. Maybe 4 years old off lease Corollas. But they run well for 10 years so...

Aluminum build 7400 2-in-1 for $360 after coupon. Not bad. Too bad it uses DDR3 memory otherwise I'd pick up one. At least it has 2 thunderbolt and supports NVMe drives.

Grabbed a 7300 for $268 to replace my end of life Win7 thinkpad t420, which I bought used 7 years ago. Hoping to get as much life out of this one Smilie

To add to it. The Latitude 7000 series regardless of screen size have been Dell's business grade work horses for well over a decade. To claim they aren't great for gaming given the target user for these is asinine.
