FWIW, It seems the crazy egg prices aren't as bad for organic/cage free/whatever. BJ's right now, store brand 5 dozen is $22 or 36.7 cents/egg. Egglands Best Cage Free is $8 for 24, or 33.3 cents/egg. Free range store brand brown eggs are $7 for 24, 29.2 cents/egg.
Are we able to reserve online to ensure stock availability?

I just read a story on why eggs are so pricey at the moment. A major egg distributor talked about increased prices of gas and feed, plus the bird flu wiping out millions of birds, which is all true. However, they also had a 611% increase in their profit. We keep buying them, they'll keep going up. If I only had an alternative protein for breakfast. (No, not protein shakes...)
some states like california have mandated that all eggs sold are now cage free, which is a reason for the recent price increase. Whole Foods has been selling only cage eggs since 2004 so they weren't affected by the new mandates that went into effect this year. That's why their egg prices have remained the same while everyone had a price increase
