The read/write speeds are lower in the M2 256gb model vs M1

Actually, new M2 is a lot cheaper at this spec level (with educational discount) from apple store -- I'm seeing $679 with 256gb ssd and 16gb ram. (edit. -- m2 Mac mini with 512gb ssd (which on m2 MacBooks fixed read/write speed issue) and 16gb ram is $879 via Mac edu store -- so this is a bit cheaper, but faster processor and larger internal storage on new M2 in this configuration seems to make it a better deal)

The "slower" speed isn't going to affect the core user of this model PLUS if you need faster speeds there are two Thunderbolt 4 ports. You can always hook in a faster SSD. You can't swap out the processor. M2 for the win.

Really? I haven't seen any benchmarks of the M2 base model yet, I know what you are talking about exists for the Macbook Air but haven't seen anything about the Mac Mini yet..

I was referring to the read/write speeds of the SSD not the processor.. because the person was mentioning that the M2 may have slower read and write speeds with the lower SSD.

I am going to guess it'll be the same slow ssd as they put in m2 air

I say that because when you look at their site, the base model has 256, then the next model up is 512, like an upgrade is the ssd vs the ram, the. Pro has 512 ssd and 16gb ram

https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/mac-mini

So the upgrade from base model to next model is the ssd not the ram
