Fyi, You can find the Columbia backcast convertible pants on Amazon for less (depending on size and color).

Sizing is weird and not really straight forward on the Amazon page, but free returns, so I took a gamble on some that I thought would fit for $12 and $15.

I love Columbia but getting a little sick of the PFG branding on all-purpose gear. Seems to be working for them….take normal stuff, throw a specific sport name on it, profit!

Definitely in for a couple. It's rare to find a convertible pant with actual inseam options. For me they usually end up a little too short (since a 32" inseam is the most generic). That's more than I can say for the Mountain Hardwear and North Face convertibles I already have. Nice find!

Only one pocket in the back on the right side fyi. That is a dealbreaker for me since I use the left back pocket.

Great price otherwise! Anyone know if this promo code works on other columbia stuff? I tried on some other pants so far but it hasnt worked

I have a couple of pairs of these that I use on the boat - I don't think of them as non-PFG at all. They're remarkably repellant when it comes to blood and guts, just as much as any of the shirts I own. They're 50 UPF, breathable - about the only thing missing would be a d-ring or pocket for pliers, but it's not out of place with my PFG gear at all.

Maybe I misspoke — what I was saying is that they took some of their regular hiking pants and slapped PFG on them to sell more.

I still bought 2 pair and probably won't fish a day in them, but I'm all about good function. Water repellence, UPF, breathability are all pretty universal traits.

What's the difference between drift guide and silver ridge? Looks like drift guide is warmer than silver ridge?
