The price is nice, but when I think about one more remote it's getting ridiculous.
Went to forums to check how others are dealing with this setup and found a bunch of problems with lagging sound and connections. This might be just another headache if you're looking for a simple setup and Woot returns make the deal even worse. Pass.

Check to see which model each is. There are multiple variants. The newer ones

Per rtings:

It seems that TCL has discontinued this version of the TCL 8+. In 2021, the manufacturer released the TCL Alto 8+ (TS8212), which is a 2.1.2 setup, and the TCL Alto 8+ (TS813), which is a 3.1.2 setup. Our results aren't representative for these setups.

A soundbar has been my PC speakers for a few years. Great sound and wall mountable. It's great.

Thanks.

I have the new one with the subwoofer. Its nice for the price and easy to setup. My only complaint that pisses me off is when you turn on and off the TV the speaker says "power on", :power off". it's so annoying and no way to turn off. Not good when you turn of the TV late at night while your family is sleeping. But if you can get past that. I recommend it!

I've TCL 4K QLED Google TV I bought from Best Buy $199 deal during thanksgiving.

If I pair this sound bar to this TV, do I still need TCL remote or sound bar remote will take over completely?

My preference is to use sound bar's remote to use FireTV, but not sure if that's totally possible. Anybody with a first hand experience can share their experience?
If you set CEC control and connect with HDMI to the arc port you should be able to. I have the same tv and I only use my shield remote 90% of the time, only use the tv one to change inputs to play a game

If your TV supports CEC and ARC then you don't need Soundbar remote.

I think it is only for the reverse if you utilize the ARC functionality. Once that is used/enabled your regular remote (or more so the tv) controls the soundbar for adjusting volume and turning on and off.

lol thought he was looking for verification of 8.2.1
This isn't the atmos version, and if you sort reviews specifically for this bar, many many reviews complain about poor sound quality, barely better than tv speakers. No sub out either, hard pass.

Anyone have any experience using a soundbar on a computer?
I personally use one. It's great when it works but can have some annoyances like it might not turn on when the computer does. Or you may need an AV reciever/ soundcard to get an optical signal that supports more than stereo signals.

I personally use the hdmi connection on my gpu to pass the signal to the non arc channel on my soundbar, which allows me to have true 5.1 channels

So the new 55" TCL TV with the built-in Google TV I've been using instead of my fire stick which is also connected to the new TCL now this sound bar has a built-in fire stick fire TV I really don't need my old fire stick Max anymore or my fire cube even though they might be a little faster. But this sound bar might be good to connect to an old dumb 1080p TV

Ts813 that I have is part of the known audio delay bug when paired with a tcl tv avoid it like the plague it's such a pain in the butt.
