Not a very good deal. The 65" should be under $300. Best Buy even had the better 55" 5 Series for $200 just a few weeks ago.

My 75 year old parents bought the 65" version of this TV recently and have been really happy with it. It might be bottom of the barrel but it is way better than the old tv they upgraded from. They paid slightly over this price and bought it in store at Wal-Mart near the small town they live in. They wanted to see the picture before they bought it. I convinced them to add on a cheap soundbar with a wireless subwoofer and now their setup is pretty great for only spending about $500.

Nice deal if you're happy with bottom barrel on a 65". It's a better deal that similar bottom tier samsung's of course.

Personally, unless you're a college student, I'd try to get something with local dimming that you're gonna use everyday, since edge lit in 2023 isn't that fun.

Hisense u6hf on Amazon has hit $350 a couple times lately at 58", I bought that recently and think it's a much better deal -7". To each their own of course.

Rings for the TCL vs hisense. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...eshold=0.2

I know you can't go back in time, but just for some perspective I bought a 65" TCL 6-Series for ~$530 in June of 2019. I believe the MSRP was like $999 at the time. This doesn't feel like a great deal but as others have mentioned, today's market is just different than it was a few years back.

For perspective, as I remember Target sold the Android-tv version of the TCL 65 inch 4 series for $229 a little over two years ago, or about $218 after RedCard discount. I got used to electronics continuously offering more bang for the buck each year, but that seems to have slowed or stopped.
The android ones has major issues and had a very high return rate from what I recall. They were purging older Inventory at discount from what I recall.

I think model matters. Lowest end hisense is worse than series 4 I'm sure.

I have a hisense h8g which us a 2 year old model with quantom dot and local dimming. Extremely happy with it.

Rtings has videos in their test comparisons. Worth watching.

I bought 4 series TCL from Target a year ago.

Decided to get the Hisense bc of the good reviews and local dimming. Put them next to each other, and TCL beat it in everything

Not sure if Hisense need any special calibration. I did try different picture modes, and it still wasnt anywhere near TCL in terms of picture quality

Looks like it's on clearance at Walmart now.

Also Howard's has the 65" Series 5 on sale (in store only) for $399. Link for reference:

If you can't get the Series 4 for $228 at Walmart, may want to pay $30 more and get the Series 5 instead.
That is the S431. The one Walmart has these days is the S451. I doubt any actually have the S431 in stock. The walmart deals have been fake lately and been on clearance for a very long time.

65 inch onn. Roku TV at walmart is currently $298. Add 5 year warranty for $42. It's no OLED, but it's not $1,700 - $3,000 for the same size screen either.
