I have this model, in this exact color. It's a nice watch for the money. Very retro. Unlike the movements in most Timex quartz three-hand watches, the quartz chronograph in this watch doesn't tick loudly.

Just wanted to echo this comment regarding the value and noise level. I have to put my ear up to the watch to hear any ticking, as opposed to the standard Timex Weekender watches, which I can hear from across a quiet room.

Why is this different than other weekender about the noise level? Curious

The seconds complication is on a subdial (one of the small hands). The regular weekender has a big seconds hand.

Don't think I've ever seen a $40 watch with a sapphire crystal

Not joking but why do ppl still use watches?
For fashion? Do your friends compliment you when you wear them?
Not trying to be a wisguy.

Other way round. The Shinola looks like a Weekender. The Timex came first.

Here is a review of one two years before Shinola made a single watch.

I haven't worn them since I was in the military, where they were very nearly a requirement. I stopped wearing them because I constantly bumped them against things and cracked the crystals. Cell phones solved that gap for me.

But, I have plenty of friends who perform jobs that require them getting their hands dirty in a way they don't want to reach into their pockets and pull out their cell phone. Nearly all of those friends wear watches.

And, as you and others have indicated, for many it is a fashion choice.

I was chuckling at the question about compliments, though. I'm trying to remember the last time any of my friends and I complimented each other on any topic at all. I failed.

I need another watch like I need a hole in the head, but a cool looking Timex that doesn't tick like a old school bomb timer.....tempted.
