I believe this is the cheapest this game has been, by almost $10. At least, it's the cheapest I've seen it. This is a great tactics game, made by the developer that made Xcom, and is turn-based like those games, only with random card drawing instead of hit percentage. It works with Steam or Epic. The Digital+ and Legendary versions are also on sale for $42.23 and $52.79.
Not sure if it's all of their games, but this article discusses how you can disable the 2K Launcher if you're playing on Steam since it seems to cause some issues with the game and it can run smoother without it: https://kotaku.com/marvel-midnigh...1849890630
I love XCOM and the fire emblem games but hated this game. It isn't really like either of them.
You basically stand out in the open and then play cards and use powers I order to defeat the bad guys in the most streamlined way to win. Then you go back to your base and talk with people for a long time, rinse, repeat. I just couldn't get into it and only lasted a couple of hours or so. It was also super easy and didn't satisfy the way other turn based strategy games do.
I just finished the game yesterday. I really liked it, but I wish it was about 8 hours shorter. Not everyone will feel this way, but there was just too much dialogue at times that made it a bit annoying for me to play through.
That said, the gameplay is very fun, like a card-tactics game with (XCOM with Marvel characters).

Just got it. Good price. Won't go any lower. If they did they might as well get rid of the game. lol
Firaxis and Marvel will flesh the game out further and then maintain a raised price in this range. Pick it up now if you're on the fence.
Update: Launched on Steam. Steam opens 2K launcher. Thought it would direct launch on Steam... Green Man Gaming should let ppl know.
Is this how all Firaxis games run? I'm glad I didn't pay more.
Won't go any lower? Please check all the XCom games and 2k games lowest prices. My guess is within a couple years, this will be in a $20 bundle with XCom 1, 2, and Chimera with all DLC. This game is less than one year old and already pushing a 50% discount from launch. That's a good sign lower is for sure coming.

To be fair, damn near all games are super easy for the first couple hours... That's the training wheels period.

Well of course it will be cheaper down the line. But there's really NOTHING to play right now. MW offers nothing new. Overwatch2 is the same old OW1.
If you're wiling to wait two years to get the Legendary edition for $30 or lower well that's up to you.
Like you said this game has dropped fast by more than half at 31. Good price for what it is.

The game was having slowdowns and I thought it was just poorly optimized.
It was the launcher. Maybe buddy DRM. Thanks!

Thanks for this, this sounds horrible and nothing like XCOM.

My backlog of games I already own and really want to play/finish is like 80 games deep…strictly on PC. Throw in console games I own and I'm over 100 easily. This is like a golden age of gaming with access to classics, indies, and modern AAA titles. It isn't that there is nothing to play. It is you aren't interested in all that is available. Those are two different things.
Disaster until you find all the hacks. Need to switch it from direct x 12 to 11, and need to do a memory file hack in the steam OS. If not, it will get to some points and continuously crash

Well buddy you're just describing your situation with games. What I said was that for me there isn't much to play right now in general. As in nothing great, or that much popular.
I definitely don't have a 80 game backlog on pc like you.

How can you say there's nothing to play right now?
If you have a switch, Fire Emblem Engage just came out 2 days and it's a blast. I've ignored all my friends and responsibilities and already put over a dozen hours into it.

For me, I just kinda got tired of running around the Abbey all the time. Sort of wish it was like XCOM base management after a while where you just click on the rooms to visit.
That being said, this is one of my favorite games in the last year. I've already squeezed 200 hours from it and I'm pretty excited to play it again with the DLC next week.

How well does this play on steam deck?

You need to follow a guide to make a few manual optimizations for the Steam Deck (some of these are general optimizations that will enhance SD performance anyways)
Also for non SD players, go through that guide anyways to disable the 2k Launcher. There is a literal performance boost if you do it.

comparison to xcom/tactics games
This game shares a lot of DNA with XCOM but is also nothing like it when you get down to the gritty details. The way this game is setup, it's still a tactics game, but I would relate it more to a puzzle game than a traditional strategy game. Instead of Hit Chance RNG, you're usually dealing with deckbuilding RNG, which imo is much easier. This game is infinitely easier than XCOM or Fire Emblem on Classic difficulty. I played it on the hardest difficulty as soon as it was available and found it not much of a problem. (Because as a puzzle game, there is often an optimal solution to almost every encounter)
