Bought this exact TV during black friday. I returned it after a week due to crazy dirty screen effect, and light bleed. Also, I simply cannot recommend the operating system. Google keeps getting hung up, slow and not very responsive. I have since purchased two more google tv's - a Sony OLED and a Hisense Qled.. both have the same issues with the operating system. I swear I wish we could upgrade our TV's with some RAM or something lol. Even my 7 year old roku is more responsive. Don't know whats the deal.

I'm not aware of a cheaper 65" on sale at the moment.

I had high hopes that these Hisense Google tvs would be better by now but sadly your comments confirms otherwise. I can attest that my Sony Oled with Google tv is incredibly laggy even after multiple software updates. It's frustrating to use. Hisense Roku tvs I've had recently have been excellent with a good interface and no lag issues. Sadly Hisense has gone fully Google Tv on all their new sets.
Just buy a ROKU and attach it to the TV and don't bother with Google TV. I did the same but also have the option to switch to Google TV for a few streaming apps that just aren't available for the ROKU

Regularly hits this price since August 2022… IPS Panel… Edge-lit… As someone who has setup 2x of these for family, in regards to build quality, I can confirm backlight bleed along the edges seems common. Color reproduction is nice, better than the Samsung 7 series, could be due to glossy display or simply the IPS panel, and also due to being IPS, off-center viewing angles maintained picture performance.

Bought this tv with the knowledge it isn't the best. Was pleasantly surprised after some tweaks to the picture settings and yes it does have cons but for the price its a wonderful tv for the casual/budget people like myself.

Have the older version of this tv with the "android tv" name and it was so laggy I bought an Apple TV.

Bought a Hisense with the Roku interface for another room and it is so much better

Yeah my family's main tv is hisense android 65in. A bit slow at startup and not best connection when streaming. Although that could be due to the location of router which is about 50 feet away with multiple rooms in between. But they mainly watch directly through cable box . With daily use of 3 yrs or so it's held up thus far.

Hisense TVs are undependable but Costco did one better. You get a 3-year warranty and then you can purchase a Allstate Warranty on top of that. If you want a garage TV or back patio then yes from Costco.

So... picked up one of these today as my 13(?) year old 1080p LG 55" went out on us.

I can confirm that there is backlight bleed on the edges. It's noticeable to me on dark scenes but no one else seems to notice it. Also worse at angles.

I use my Xbox for streaming so I didn't even setup the Google interface. Disappointed to hear that it's slow and buggy though - I can say our 50" Hisense with the Roku interface is very responsive. Without setting up the Google interface, the TV is responsive and no bugs (yet).

Otherwise, I'm pretty satisfied for the money. Picture (outside of the edge bleed) is good and sound is surprisingly good - was expecting much worse.

Added bonus was that this display actually has 4 HDMI ports. Most of the specs said 3, so that was a nice surprise.

My 13 year old LG was about $1200 and that was a "good" price back then laugh out loud

This is simply what you get for this price range
Sure. Light bleed and dirty screen effect are expected to a degree but mine was SO BAD it was definitely a factory issue. Doesn't change the fact google OS is pretty bad.

Thank you!

I don't think RTINGS even mentions about the performance of the TVs (might be wrong, so feel free to correct!)

While we are not worried about the dirty screen effect or sub-par viewing angles, since it's mostly being used to playing rhymes for the toddler, the TV isn't responsive. Not sure if its the OS, components. This TV has 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space, while I'm not sure what the processor is.

You definitely would want to use an addon chromestick/Roku/AppleTV if you don't want to have a blood pressure.

Also, this is a costco specific model, they throw in a year of extra warranty and a HDMI cable.
Im considering roku-ing all of my TV's due to the crappy OS. It doesn't matter how much money you spend, in my case $300-500 for cheaper led/qleds or a full blown Sony 77 Bravia OLED the OS is not good at all.
