20 years ago when I purchased an oxygen sensor socket to change out my girlfriend's O2 sensor in a Mitsubishi Eclipse I should have learned a lesson: sometimes it makes sense to borrow a tool.
I still have that thing and have never used it again since that day.
There are tools you use regularly and tools you use once (like a strut spring compressor for example). But what you need but borrow what you have to.

My thought process is purchasing a tool is cheaper than having someone do it, then my answer is always yes.
I wrench for hobby and I haven't needed someone fix my cars since 2001.
