Surprised there is no mention of the redundancy of this tool.
Indeed. Dummy me, a real dangerous person w/ tools, was wondering about that too.

✔️ Sketchy no-name Chinese vendor with a custom branded pallet of product from Aliexpress
✔️ Frequently shilled brand
✔️ Fake or hijacked reviews
✔️ Independent testing shows it's bad at the one thing it's for
✔️ Price several times higher than a reputable product without gimmicks

What a deal!

How can you tell what the reviews are for on this item when they seem to be merged between the tape measure and a miter saw gauge?

Are your referring to a normal tape measure or is there a reputable laser distance measure that is a fraction of this price? If the latter, link please?

Bought one of these for my architect wife. People always get so impressed when she pulls out the fancy laser tape measure during site visits, even the contractors!

Project Farm tested it recently.

https://youtu.be/xHsxIkjQCuo

It was easy to read outdoors, stood up to damage, but the measurement was a quarter inch out compared to several others and it was trickier to clip to a belt.

Result table at 18:42.
I want to say it's possible the range the metal clip measure is different from where the laser is pointing to. Anyone who uses laser measures know how accurate they are and the slight move of the laser in any direction will give you a different reading each time. Measure a window at different points close to each other and you'll see, builders try their best to make it look eye test proportional but once you start using better instruments, no way you can get as accurate as the tool.

Rules still apply. Measure twice, cut once.

How can anyone tell that the reviews are good? Most of the reviews are for other products, like the Lexivon Miter Saw Protractor.
Kind of a crappy way to do it but you can filter the review for the tape and between positive and critical(3 and under). It has 301 critical ratings and 1,330 positive, so about 77% positive.

I'm in. Thanks OP
dont care. And I take with a grain of salt a product that is trying to look like a brand name , dewalt color scheme, and a product that has reviews from a different product. Shady sellers do it all the time with crappy products. Enjoy your paper weight

Just FYI - I use this brand's torque wrench, which is obviously a very different tool, and it's quality. I wouldn't call this brand a "no-name" but a lesser known one.

Their torque wrench had a significant amount of readings that were out of range in the Project Farm review. I wouldn't call that "quality". Might be good enough for lug nuts, but I sure wouldn't trust it on anything important. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP4uECoH8cc

I do only use it for lug nuts. Super interesting video, that being said, considering the dollar cost average to performance of high priced torque wrenches seems to me like it's pretty decent. You're correct though, "Quality" was probably the wrong word, more like "decent."

Anyway, point is I wouldn't call the brand trash.
