Interesting. It just that I see the thread about Sony A80-90J deal for $999.99 and it has lots of upvote. MSRP shows $1999.99 for the 55'' variant.

I also am having a hard time understanding the segment of TV. I get the car segment very well ie subcompact, compact, mid size, full size car/truck/SUV and of course, EV.
TVs come down to technology for their "segment" essentially.

The low end is LCD using LED as a backlight.
Mid-range sets tend to be LCD with a QLED backlight (aka an LED with quantum dots, getting brighter and better colors typically).
High-End sets are all OLED, with some top tier QLED sets as well.

But using price points you can see your OLED and this are not comparable. Your OLED 55" is $1000. This 55" is $370. Not in the same universe. The 75" of this is only $700. See what I mean?

I just wonder how reliable these TCLs are. I had a 65" that I got from the Walmart bf deal and it just bit the dust yesterday after not even 2 months.

Oled is expensive because only limited few companies LG Sony and Sammy are making them. Once Chinese companies are able to make them, the price will drop significantly.

This is a 75 inch led tv. What you're comparing it to is a 55 inch oled. There isn't a comparison unless you want to argue if the apple is better than the orange.

I'll never forget getting the 75" Class 4 series of this exact same TV for $399 due to a mistake from Best Buy and Amazons price match. And this was 3 years ago! Best slick deal I've ever gotten! Still hanging in my living room Smilie

I find it funny when people compare TV's in general… just buy what your disposable income allows you to that meets your expectations of use. No one should tell you what your own use case would be for a TV. If you're in front of your TV all day then buy a top of the line Sony or LG OLED. If you're a gamer then get a 120htz tv. If you just watch sports then buy a 77-85" tv. For the kitchen, gym, or garage - save some money and get a smaller 4k from a cheaper brand. If you only watch tv from time to time then get any 4k 55"-70" decent tv like Vizio, TCL, Hisense, etc. most importantly for all of these occasions take warranty into deep consideration from retailers like Costco.

Yes I see what you mean. You explained it clearly. Thank you.

It what I need to know. I just don't want to make a costly decision to buy TV because of one factor. That's not enough justification. I learned this the hard way.

I had Samsung 55" KU6300 model from 2016 and I will need a new one to replace.

Just set your budget, then get the TV with the best pic quality to size ratio that fits your budget.

rtings.com is a great place to review.

If you can give your budget, and include the largest size you can or are willing to live with, and if your viewing environment is bright or light controlled, People on here will give good suggestions.

I have 4 TCL tvs, one is 7 years old, one is about 4 years old. I got a 65" last year and a 75" last month. I really haven't had any problems with them. The 4 year old one 32" is outside under a covered porch but it's exposed to moisture and FL weather all the time, it still works with no problems.

Edit to add, the 65" replaced my Hisense that had all of its cards replaced under warranty, the sound is starting to go out. The 75" replaced my Vizio tv that was replaced under warranty when it stopped working and the replacement stopped working again so no more Hisense or Vizio. I hate LG and Samsung for their crappy appliances too.

No hdmi 2.1 or 120hz refresh, I like the 6 series better, Best Buy has a 65" with those features included for $700

As reliable as any other TV. Using Consumer Reports data set, it shows all TVs at a similar price point have similar failure rates, regardless of Brand. This means a $500 TV from TCL is estimated to last as long as a $500 tv from Samsung (or whoever).
