Anyone own this particular model? I bought my daughter a competitor's version and if you turned the volume up the speaker vibrated enough to make the record skip. The speakers where right by the handle.

I have this model and have not experienced that issue. However, the built in speakers are very weak and poor sounding, but it does have RCA on the back so you can connect them to external speakers. The Bluetooth on this model is only a receiver, meaning you can connect your phone to play through the internal speaker, but cannot transmit the record player audio out to Bluetooth speakers, like some other models can.

Don't get these briefcase record players. They will damage your records.

What is the point of sending analog audio over Bluetooth? You might as well stream it at that point.

I was thinking of buying a Victrola turntable but was turned off when I read that they recommend changing the needles every 50 hours or so.

I was looking at a different model, but the Amazon Q&A for this one includes:

Quote :
Q: Can the cartridge be replaced or only the needle?
A: The cartridge and the needle are not separate items, they are part of the entire stylus needle. The stylus needle must been replaced after 50-55 hours of use.

Don't buy a new record player that's cheaper than a record.

Hey, just an FYI: These do tend to ship with a very cheap Ruby stylus that certainly should be changed out very quickly. However, when you change it, you buy a diamond tipped one for five to ten bucks and that'll last closer to a thousand hours.

This wouldn't be an improvement on that. You're going to see that with virtually any suitcase or all-in-one player. With the speakers mounted in the same chassis, it's best not to crank the volume too much. It'll just distort and sound awful.

Wife bought this for my daughter for Christmas. Immediately returned it and gave her an old turntable from the 80s that I had in a closet instead.

Truly awful.

I believe it does the opposite -- you can basically stream your digital music (smartphone, computer) to the built in speakers on this. I don't think it actually goes the opposite way (sending audio output to a bluetooth speaker)

I bought one of these as a gift, and while it is apparently very bad for records and audio quality, I think the selling point is more of the novelty of it. The market for this isn't really 'I want a good sounding record player' but more of the novelty of having a briefcase that folds out to become a record player to listen to a handful of records on. Protecting the records and the audio quality isn't a huge factor, most likely, and they would much prefer this all-in-one type solution to something like a technics turntable and speakers.

Tempted on this one as the replacement power cords (3rd party) tend to be about ~$13
