When I was a kid, I collected baseball cards because I loved baseball. I spent hours memorizing stats and reading short bios of each player. There was plenty of value for me. They're not financially valuable, but I still have them and they bring me nostalgic joy. Not everything is about money when collecting things. If money is your priority, then collect money. Adults driving up the price of collectibles will ruin the sustainability of the industry. People will only buy what they can afford, and to expand customer base, things have to be affordable. I grew up poor but could afford cards, but now only the privileged kids can have them.
See, now that is the problem with the naive brainwashed young.

So you cannot open it and get a $$$$$$ card, or flip the box in a year or two for 3 times your money, therefore no "value"?

Value is in the eye of the beholder and I feel sorry for the future of America with the way younger people are today
I wish pokemon would get price cuts like this lol

That's what we probably thought about the 1st gen Pokémon boxes and now they sell for $250k-500k a box. I could have been a millionaire if I had invested in a few boxes back then for a few hundred. ☹️

This comment is absurd. Clearly swagdrj meant trading value or resale value in his/her comment. This is most important or common aspect of trading cards. The satisfaction owning certain cards also came from the rareness of the card. So I don't see a problem by judging the values of the card.

There is nothing about generation, brainwash, future or America. On the other hand, if you cannot keep up with a new generation or even the changing world, at least keep an open eye and have an open mind.

My son *just* got into Pokemon, so I'm not up to speed on these type of cards. Is this like what normally they get into next, after Pokemon? Wondering if this is of value to buy now and see if he gets into it next, sort of wish I did that with Pokemon cards when I saw those were sale.

Can real collectors please comment...what's the chance of pulling a dark magician or blue eyes or any of the OGs? Are they as rare as most sought after pokemon cards? I'm just trying go find the best packs to rekindle my childhood...not trying to flip for profit.

1. Pokemon
2. Marijuana
3. Heroin

Pokemon is the least talked about gateway game.

I legit have a clearance flier from a random website with 30 dollar booster boxes of jungle up to base 2. $1 single packs. Like $3 theme decks. It just hurts to look at but also inspires me that maybe there's someone out there with a few in their closet still and going to the yardsale next spring haha.

To be fair this is an established game and not a first series set. I don't see yugioh evert blowing up to pokemon level popularity but that's not why you should collect cards anyway. It's just fun.
