It is a mulled wine. Basically a wine that you sweeten and then mull spices like cinnamon, cloves and others to your preferred taste. It is very good served hot/warm during the cold. I take the Kirkland cab box and mull it with cinnamon, coriander, cloves and cardamon (my wife doesn't like star anise or I would add that too) and then add light brown sugar to taste. Mull it a few hours over a simmer and remove the spices and serve warm/hot. I bottle mine by filtering it through a coffee filter. I also add whiskey, white rum and vodka to taste to fortify it. Some people will mull citrus in it but I just add triple sec to add a little citrus flavor.
