Here's my quick list of games that I think are worth it:
Darksiders (Backwards Compatible) $4.99
Darksiders Fury's Collection - War and Death $9.99
Darksiders Genesis $11.99
Darksiders III - Blades & Whip Edition $15.99
All of these are in the third-person hack and slash/action platformer vein. Think Devil May Cry or even God of War to a lesser extent. They don't take a ton of practice and are really fun on their own.
Destroy All Humans! - Jumbo Pack $31.99
Includes both Destroy All Humans! games remade for Xbox One/Series S/X - pretty fun and goofy game where you play as an alien, kill people, abduct cows, and fly a saucer around.
Sine Mora (Backwards Compatible) $2.49
Really fun space shooter with a very basic story. Replay value is there if you like SHMUPS
Stuntman: Ignition (Backwards Compatible) $3.74
Ever wonder what it's like to be a Stuntman in the movies? This game is kind of cheesy, but pretty fun in its right. Drive your vehicle through set pieces and do what the director is demanding. More fun than it sounds on paper - I'd suggest checking some gameplay videos if you're on the fence.
Wreckfest $11.99
Probably one of my favorite games of the last generation. Essentially Destruction Derby on steroids. Lawnmower demolition derby? Racing a field of angry school busses in a three-wheeled car? Super fun. Career mode takes around five hours or so to complete, but there is a lot of replay value.
EDIT: Sunset Overdrive[xbox.com] is also on sale for$4.99 ($7.49 for deluxe). This game is basically InFamous on steroids. Goofy guns, using your shoes to grind rails all over the city, and mutant soda. Can't really ask for more.
Avatar for 360 is probably the easiest game to earn 1000 achievement points ever made.
Agreed. I'm waiting for the curated list of 5-10 titles from this list that are actually worth buying, I'm a huge GoW fan, and would love something similar with a 3rd person shooter/role play that doesnt require tons of work to master (looking at you, Arkham Knight series!).

Hilariously easy. Found this out back in 2009/10; brother was 13 at the time and working on getting his first Xbox 100% at the time. I brought this down and did it in 2 minutes - he never forgave me for Avatar being the first.

It's a super simplistic game. So if they're starting out gaming and they already love the show, I would say it's a good buy.
