The $30 closing fee only applies to 'Charged Off' accounts AKA accounts in delinquency. There should be no fee (that I can see in their fee schedules) for closing an account. You should be plenty fine to just close the account after you get the promo cash.

Was going to hop on the MySavingsDirect train, but the no-app was a dealbreaker. Put a bad taste in my mouth. But both MySavingsDirect and UFB have wildly bad ratings across the board when searched online. Biggest complaint about MySavingsDirect is them being a random third leg of another institution. Biggest complaint of UFB is the changing rates and having to do legwork to be grandfathered into the latest rate, as other have mentioned. I greatly appreciate your feedback though.
