The $30 closing fee only applies to 'Charged Off' accounts AKA accounts in delinquency. There should be no fee (that I can see in their fee schedules) for closing an account. You should be plenty fine to just close the account after you get the promo cash.

Got to the part to ship a card and it gave error code 1002. I'm in NC. Probably because I did not get sent the offer personally. I'm not calling as this BS has happened to me and a good friend before.

Be careful:
Opened account, funded $100, and requested debit card yesterday. Everything went well and got all the emails. Just tried to login today and got a account locked message. Called customer service and was told to go to a local branch for all the questions I had. Now have to make almost 2 hours drive. What a pita.

Long time SunTrust BB&T customer. The merger has been messy, good luck finding a branch. Everything has to be done in person. Lots of new fees limited transfers, low interest rates on cds. Sad to see hopefully they have a plan.

Opened mine this morning. It wouldn't let me use a card online for some reason. Had to go to the bank, in person. Also, they will not accept card payment for opening, other than a BB and T card. Make sure you have cash, if that applies.

WTF? Got the flier in the mail with the same promo code as posted on slickdeals. Went to register and got the following message:

In review of your request, we cannot verify your application information through our digital process.
