Keep in mind that the Rtings review is for a 65" with an ADS/IPS panel. This 85" has a VA panel, so overall it will perform better than the Rtings review suggests... especially for movies.

Excellent price.

Local dimming, bright picture, 4xHDMI 2.1, solar charging remote, solid build quality.

For just $400 more, this is a better deal than the lg86 and Sony85 deals posted recently.

Frontpage worth deal.

Employee email address sign up or AAA membership and access via AAA discount portal by searching Samsung, then shop now and validate identity for access to discounted Samsung. So far appears to be the same as EPP program pricing.

I have AAA for 7 years now. Everytime I needed they arrive and dealt with the problem. Never had any problem whatsoever with them. I change states a lot in the last decade, so I used them in many parts of the country.
I've had AAA off and on for 20 years... They've gotten steadily worse over the decades. Renewed my membership recently because I was doing a bunch of 1300 mile trips moving between states. As luck would have it I my trailer lights stopped working so I tried to get a tow to the next city 15 miles away (requires flat bed to tow the trailer). After waiting 2 hours for service with semis zooming past me at 75+, I called back and they "escalated" it. After 2 more harrowing hours they still didn't have anyone enroute and no estimate on when someone would be coming. At that point, with dusk setting on I drove it 15 miles to the next exit with which was not what I would have characterized as safe, but waiting on the side of the road in the dark... probably all night... with the night time semi traffic picking up was also not "safe."

If you break down near a major city you're probably ok, if you're more than 2 hours away, the independent companies they hire to tow/perform services might not do it for the price they're being offered. If you break down on a holiday or Sunday evening, again they just don't need the money enough to do it for the peanuts they're being offered. I don't know if I'm going to renew my membership.

Also... if you rented the trailer from UHaul it doesn't sound like they'll service it. I was driving a uhaul but it was my personal trailer. I had to explain it to them no less than 10x that the vehicle they were looking for on the side of the road was a uhaul, but the trailer they were towing was my personal trailer and not a commercial uhaul trailer. The weird thing is that I did mention I was going to be making several trips in a uhaul as one of the main reasons I was renewing and they said nothing. If I had read an exclusion to uhauls I definitely wouldn't have renewed.

Ya now that I talk this through, definitely not renewing.

What do you watch, what time of day, and how bright is the room.
Not me, her. I watch whatever she has tuned to in the limited time I spend in the living room. I dare not touch the remote.

She watches cable TV mostly, (although I have tons of OTA connected/available channels) on an older TCL 50" dumb TV.

Room is normally dim.

She lies dying in the corner of our LR and told me a few days ago that she cannot see it very well lately due to her chemo treatments. Mounting location has me restricted for size, and I just want her comfortable with my choice.

TMI or not enough?

I would go 77" OLED if you can budget it. The B2 is just as bright as this Samsung.

I stated that I was being limited size-wise due to location (so 65" vs OP deal on the 85").
You evidently didn't read my initial post correctly, and chose to reply with a snarky "You don't know."

-- no rhyme nor reason for such a reply, so I asked.???

Then you chose to ask me questions, so I replied in more detail than you were comfortable with.

Being snarky gets noticed. Nice try to "duck and run..."

Those payment plans samsung offers, man, I still have more remaining on my balance than the TV is selling for now. It's as if I've been renting/leasing. Glad everyone is getting a deal but sorta wish they would adjust my balance to match the current price lol.

Love the site but frustrated at companies for making 85s the same model as the smaller ones when it's a different panel and for rtings for not reviewing them separately.

I replied when you posted and nothing showed up. Your handle is Jack Schitt, and my reply was You don't know. Get it. When I came back your comment was there. Must have been a software glitch. That's it.
If you have to stick with 65" I would still recommend OLED. I own the 85" QN90A and love it, but it's a definitely step down from the B2 and C2 OLED models. In a dim room there is no comparison. Get the OLED.

Sorry to hear, keep your chin up. SDR brightness would be most important to daytime TV, and get the biggest screen that will fit to make it easier to see. If you've got a ton of OTA channels, try looking for something with ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN TV and you might get some free 4k depending on your market.

I bought the 65" version of this TV 3 weeks ago and it's fantastic for bright rooms. My family room is surrounded by window and the picture is as bright as can be. HDMI 2.1 on all 4 ports is a plus too.

Does Samsung ship through a specific company or just UPS FedEx?
