I chatted with the Samsung rep via chat feature and asked for the 2 years+ Samsung plus protection for free as other forum members were getting it. He had no problem including that for me.
How exactly did you word the request when you were ordering it?

What would you say the best deal is on a tv around 85"? The room has a lot of natural light, viewing angle is not super important mostly watching from straight on. It looks like ratings has the Hisense 85U7H rated higher and its at $1500 at best buy. I also have the total tech membership so I get a free install. I have not had a great experience with hisense TVs in the past but have loved the Samsungs I have had so I am hesistant.

Replacing 3 year old 70" Sony that sucks.... some leds shot causing blue screen... known problem with the model I have...

Same here, just asked for it. No need for foreplay. I think the "gotta check with my supervisor" bit is just for show. They probably already know they can do it and probably also get some commission for taking your order.

That deal has been jumping between the $1,699 price and the $2,899 price all morning. It's possible the price/deal could come back.

Very similar TVs, this is probably better for sports though as it has higher SDR brightness. I'd lean towards the U7H for Movies as it gets brighter in HDR, and has Dolby Vision.

If you don't have a soundbar or AVR, the Samsung has better sound with 60 watts for 6 speakers in a 2.2.2 config, while the U7H has 30 watts and 2 speakers. If you watch a lot of blu-rays with a soundbar though, the U7H should have the have the sound advantage with DTS passthrough.

If your a cord-cutter in a big city, the Hisense also has an ATSC 3.0 tuner.
thanks for response. I don't watch sports but watch plenty of movies so it appears Hisense is the one to go for me. Smilie

I see posts that the Hisense has ATSC 3.0... does this Samsung have ATSC 2.0? Is that a something Samsung may add later with software/firmware, or does that require hardware upgrade?

Update:
Per ChatGPT, "Yes, ATSC 3.0 is a new broadcast television standard that requires new hardware, both in televisions and in broadcasting equipment. Televisions that are capable of receiving ATSC 3.0 signals are often referred to as "ATSC 3.0-compatible" or "NextGen TV-compatible." Consumers may need to purchase a new television or a separate tuner in order to receive ATSC 3.0 signals. Additionally, broadcasting companies will need to upgrade their equipment to transmit ATSC 3.0 signals."
