The 7 and 8 share the same processor.

They may have changed the name due to the temp sensor or something but they 100% hAbe the exact same processing capacity.

A big stink was made over that.

This is a really slick deal... I already have a 7 and am considering picking one up just for the cellular function – It would be nice to let my partner see where I am when I'm out on long runs and don't take my phone.

As others have said, there's almost no appreciable difference between this and the newer Series 8. Crash detection is more of a liability than it's worth (it was going off for skiers and at amusement parks) and the temp sensor isn't super useful from what I've heard.
