It not just Sheepleism though, if you want the retina dpi (and it do look good), and no scaling wonkyness, you basically have this or the LG Ultrafines, which are in the same price range.

But yes, it costs a penny.

Is this an upgrade over the LG Ultrafine Mac 5k monitor?

This certainly would future-proof 2+ years of purchases since 27 inch is a parking luxury like more than 8gb with Apple's current thinking - too bad so many things are knocking at my door in the $1000+ price range (so far I'm hiding with all of the lights off)

Costco has the Apple Studio Display on sale for $1299. This is $200 off the regular Costco price and $300 off Apple's regular price. Lowest price I've seen thus far.

I can't tell based on the website if this is a member-only price.

For this ammount of money I would better get Samsung 49" curved monitor.

Enjoy your $1500 60hz monitor. Rofl. I have tons of apple products but I will never understand apple fanboys.
Did you really just roll on the floor while you were laughing? You! I need to hang out with you. I've never done that. That would be off the chain! 🙄

This or the better 48" LG OLED? 27" seems so tiny. 32" seems to be the sweet spot.

This has very specific use cases. For my job, I spend hours each day reading PDFs with very small, tightly packed fonts and extremely detailed figures. It's really tough to read them on a standard 100 dpi monitor. It is expensive for a general consumer that doesn't have a use case, but for work it isn't really a big expense.

I love posts about high-end Apple stuff. People who likely don't own any Apple products to begin with have so much insight to offer as to why it's a waste of money.

I have the Odyssey G9 49 Samsung. I also have two LG 5K monitors. The resolution difference is staggering in favor of 5K 5120x2880 vs 5120x1440.

The G9 is blurry as hell. Put them side by side and you can't unsee it. PPI has a very valid use case. If you are a programmer or sysadmin who works in console and IDE editors, there is nothing besides the 6K XDR that compares.. This is not a gaming monitor but a productivity. I can go 10 hours with no eye strain.

My reply in the other thread: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=161268274&postcount=59

The 48 or 42 inch OLED will have the same pixel resolution density as a 15.6 inch laptop with a 1368x768 resolution screen. Remember that? 42" 4K is 104.5 PPI. That to me is low res. 27" 5K is 219 PPI.

Never surprises me the sorts of people that post in mac, watch and anything else luxury. Same argument, different item.

I use this for professional reasons and before that used apples 2012 thunderbolt. It's an excellent display and the 600 nits really lights up the room - useful especially if you're running the glossy screen display.
