Status 160 (Satin Smoke / Artic Blue, limited sizes)
Product Details:
Focused on fun and featuring our Mixed-Wheel Trail Geometry, the Status frameset is a fewer frills, all thrills FSR delivery system crafted from our hard-charging—and hard-wearing—M5 alloy and is designed not only to take a hit, but keep asking for more.
Fox's FLOAT 36 Rhythm calls their venerable Grip damper into service in the name of adventurous riders everywhere, offering impressively controlled travel with plenty of trail-feel that puts confidence on speed dial. The two-position Sweep adjustment ensures the FLOAT 36 Rhythm is right at home dealing out its 140-millimeters (Status 140) or 160-millimeters (Status 160) of travel in just about any environment while 36-millimeter stanchions promise plenty of stiffness for precise handling at the limit.
Quality suspension unlocks some serious free speed, so to slow it all down, we tasked SRAM's proven Code R brakes with stopping duties. Forged four-piston calipers offer serious stopping power, while 200-millimeter rotors on both ends of the bike promise plenty of fade-free bite when it matters.

About this deal:
This price is $750.01 less (25% savings) than the listed retail price.
The bike industry is about to shit the bed, more (and probably better) deals to come.
Sram NX on a 3k bike? For shame.
like tech, ppl overloaded on bikes during pandemic and now it's over, there's glut on the market and everyone already purchased a bike.

I purchased a 140 online and called a store to reserve a 160 that they will let me try when they get it, I will probably compare both when they get here and keep one. I was worried about some comments on these not being good for climbing when I reserved the 160 and that's why I decided to order a 140 for hybrid trails.
The value on these is undeniable, good frame with great components. Components wise this beats the StumpJumper by a long shot for a similar price. I was looking at the Stumpjumper alloy as well but the parts on that are very entry-level and I believe too cheap for a $3000 bike. This one instead has better brakes, much better suspension, drivetrain, etc., the frame geometry on the SJ wins from what I've read though.
Anyways, I think this is a good deal for a the brand and components.
Edit: Looks like I didn't explain myself clearly, got replies and downvotes lol. I called the Specialized store and they told me they had a 160 incoming that they could reserve for me and let me try it. Later on, I read that the 160 is an overkill for hybrid trails, was not good for climbing, and that a 140 would be better. The Specialized store didn't have any 140s in stock or on their way so I had to purchase one online for them to ship to the store. Once there, I will be able to test both and the one I don't buy will become part of their inventory.

True. Specialized and Trek and all the biggies with big advertising costs, R&D and overhead will be offering larger discounts. Shops' margins are typically quite high let alone buying direct (even higher of course) and you should hold out for 50% off MSRP, *minimum* imho.

Maybe because pandemic is "over" many had their fill of being outside plus the cost of living is up/inflation, so the demand for bikes is way less than anticipated with how much they've manufactured? Would also like a detailed explanation.

The margin is pretty thin on the base model units.
I got my Epic Comp for about 40% off retail when I bought it a few years ago. It was pre-covid and I know the shop owner. I don't think anyone walking in off the street to a LBS is going to get a 50% off MSRP unless it's an oddball size, leftover from the year before.

Yes, always a leftover new-old stock at the least and only larger volume shops are going to do it. I'm just thinking we might see more, better deals coming up.
