Lenovo has the 16" ThinkPad X1 Carbon Extreme Gen 4 in the i7/3070/16Gb/1TB configuration with the 16" WQUXGA (3840 x 2400) 600 nit IPS panel for $1775 after coupon THINKPADYPWWPW1 and $1675 after $100 for signing up for emails. This is a premium business machine with a carbon fiber body designed for durability and portability that your IT department will never let you get because it lists for nearly $5k. It is not a serious gaming laptop, the 3070 is low TDP and the thermals are iffy, and the display is targeted for productivity / content over FPS but it packs a whole lot of power for CAD or AI or editing work on the go.

This deal may be eligible for up to 12% Cashback at Lenovo with Cashback Rewards, a program exclusively for Slickdeals members that enables you to maximize your savings by earning Cashback Rewards Points on select deals found on Slickdeals. X1 Extreme can be upgraded. It's still kinda pricey, but that's near top of the line dGPU and it's a ThinkPad X1. Quality is much better than on other Lenovo products.

I really wish Lenovo made a 17" version of the X1 Extreme.

I have one. Keyboard is absolute crap and it overheats after a few seconds of high CPU usage. That causes the fan to get noisy and the CPU to slow down. It was a very expensive mistake.

Carbon fiber for something that maybe has a 2-3 year lifespan and is already dated tech

Because its a thinkpad... Built like a tank, overall quality and the keyboard feel is worth another $500 that no other laptop can provide.. My 2016 carbon still feel like I got it yesterday...Once you get a ThinkPad, you aren't looking at other one

I just purchased the 3060 variation of this exact computer yesterday for $1,500 from Lenovo on eBay. I hope it's a good buy since the 3070 model was $1,990 with taxes included.
