In my many years of fixing my cars, I have never used a 12 point. Increased chance of rounding and personally never encountered a need for it on the 6 cars I've worked on.

Wish this was half inch 6 point.

6 point or 12 point? Several respected Youtube channels (AvE and Torque Test to name a couple) have tackled this question and the answer is that it doesn't really matter, especially with flank drives, unless you are using a really cheap poor fitting socket and/or are working on an already damaged bolt.

It's funny, but 1/2" chrome 6 pt sockets are not an easy find. A LOT of 1/2" chrome is 12 pt stuff. I know you didn't specify 6pt or 12pt, but if you're interested in a reasonably price GW 1/2" chrome 6 pt kit - I bought this one off of Amazon a few years ago and it's quite nice (doesn't normally go much less than $60, tho):

Do they have a Lifetime warranty like Craftsman and where can you easily exchange if needed? If my Craftsman breaks I walk into Lowes and swap for same/similar item.

If you look at the link in my OP, it links directly to GW.com's website where it states the warranty is ---- Warranty : Limited Lifetime

The above said, I've never needed to use GW's warranty, but I've read a number of other people comment that GW's warranty is fairly hassle free. You need to contact GW, directly, and then explain what failed/broke, possibly show proof of purchase (easy when bought on Amazon), and then GW will mail you out a warranty replacement for the failed/broken tool. I've yet to read about anyone having a problem with GW's warranty as long as they've contacted GW, directly.

It's getting hard to find a B&M that'll swap out your broken Gearwrench stuff, so if your local Ace or Fastenal or NAPA or whomever won't do it for you, they have a web form to fill out, snap a few pics, and they'll send you a replacement.

A lot of complaints about the case over the years. Has it been fixed?

Already got some cheap Craftsman. Don't even use them often. Should I upgrade?
