this is not a knock off by any means. there are head units from pioneer, alpine or Kenwood that runs native android auto or some other OS, but this is more like a android tablet with a build in audio receiver. so in term of usability, i don't think this is better than pioneer or alpine, but you are not paying 1000 dollar for it either.
i installed it myself, as long as you have the basic knowledge on how to use a crimper, and know how to unplug car battery, you are pretty much set. i must also recommend buying the Axxess interface hardness for your specific vehicle, as it makes your life ALOT easier.
now keep in mind that my unit is a few years old, and my negative may no longer apply.
1. youtube bluetooth audio connection issues. especially with Samsung phones. i don't know who is to blame here, but playing youtube video/audio will have a high possibility that audio doesn't work. this often require either reboot the phone, or go to apps and stop the bluetooth app on the phone and restart the app (the actual system app). this applies from my samsung S8 all the way to S22 ultra.
2. system is VERY SLOW. like.. running an update on google map will easily take 10 minutes slow. if you were doing a firmware update, expect an hour to complete slow. i kid you not that i can only perform 1 to 2 app updates during the time of my commute. so i just don't update my apps at all.
3. firmware requires registration? like WTF? you heard it right, you cannot just find firmware and update, you need to create an account with your order ID to access the download page. oh, no OTA either. you got do download to a flash drive and do the old fashion way, did i mention each update will run for at least an hour?
at the end of the day. i use it just for bluetooth audio and AM/FM radio. the system is simply too slow to be used as a functional android tablet, i do wish the android chip-set part can be updated as the audio portion is quite decent.
