Don't pay this much for a Canon. This kind of model is about $40 at the most albeit it has the fax functionality.
If you're looking for Multi-function, faxing, scanning, printing etc, get a
Brother MFC here for $170.
Brother machines have much better reliability ratings.

Why would anyone buy ink... It dries by itself. Expensive cartridges. Go laser
This is a ink tank printer, not a cartridge printer. The starter ink in many of these printers can print as many if not more sheets than a laser's toner cartridge. Additionally, the name brand ink for a mega tank printer is cheaper than name brand laser toner or on par with third party toner prices. You really should do your research and learn about new tech.

even on ink jets lots of people are wrong on costs. My luck might have been with HP printers, but yearly we print ~10000 pages, and almost none during summer. Never had a cart dry out. And while instant ink is a touch expensive if you dont actually print all the pages, with buying cards on ebay for instant ink, my cost per page is ~1.5 cents and thats black, or color. Even without ebay its 3cents.
lasers only win if there is cheap good generic toner.

Crafting? Photos? If you have a Cameo, adding an inkjet seems next step to expand crafts.
I have a laser color that does well with some Amazon generic. But it's not for photo printing or stickers. I done stickers on laser, I'm limited on paper selection. Kiddos love stickers.
I had been eyeing the Epson Ecotanks, but other crafters have recommend the canon line. Pixma seems nice
