I had 200,000 points and just booked 5 nights in Paris and 4 nights in Nice, France with 195,000 points for May. Each city had the 4th night free since thats the perk with this card. Paris was kinda expensive so I probably could have squeezed out 12 nights with the points if I booked it all in Nice France or another city. For top hotels maybe 2-3 night since I saw nice Paris hotel for 80,000 points a night. I always aim for the 4th night free. I like this card and also got their Business version card too
Free annual reward night makes the card a no brainer, more than offsets the AF. I have one card each for business and personal use, stay mostly in the sock drawer.

It looks like the Travel Bank credits are pretty limited, $25 First half of the year and $25 the second half of the year and they expire six months after issue. Bummer, was hoping they could accumulate over the normal five year period
Oh....yup, good call I left that out... makes it pretty tough to find any math where the more expensive card isn't worth significantly more than the annual fee unless you just have no plans to ever travel again and only need, specifically, 120k IHG points for some reason.
THAT said- the $25/half year United credit is somewhat hard to put full value on because it has a VERY short expiration on it... if you normally add United travelbank cash it's good for 5 years.... the IHG $25/every 6 mo credit expires after anywhere from 1-6 months depending when you get the first one... (July 15 and Jan 15 are the expirations each time-- first credit is right after you sign up for it the first time, then on July 1 and Jan 1 after that for as long as you have the card).... so you only get value at all if you continuously make United cash bookings at least 1-2 times a year
Am i getting this right that you get the 4th night free only when redeeming points ? What if you don't have enough points? Can you buy points and use those to get the 4th night or do those have to be earned points?

Yes, you only get that 4th night free deal when redeeming points.
The points can be purchased. You also get 20% off when purchasing points using IHG card and they have promotions from time to time for purchasing points as well so keep an eye on those to stack em up.

Lots of time, it's cheaper to just book a random hotel with the points + cash option and just cancel it. They refund the cash part as points. That's how I get extra points when needed.
Can I convert the 175k bonus points to a cash deposit? Can't find anything about that on the linked web site, but sometimes it is hidden (Citi Premier). If that is possible, what does 175k points convert to in a cash deposit?

and the free night didn't have a point limit
As cash? $0.00
There's some gift card options but the redemption rate is usually horrible. This is NOT a good signup bonus for someone who does not travel.
