Unless I'm not understanding the deal, you can buy $100 worth of full-price gear, get your 15% off using the REI cc, and still get a $20 GC. You just wouldn't be getting any cash back on the $20 GC purchase. So you pay $85 for $120 worth of gear ($120-$20GC-$15 cash back) versus $102 ($120 - $18 cash back) without this deal.

Well dang. I ordered a bunch of stuff yesterday. Unsure if I should reorder and return eventually.

No problem to re-order & return your original order. Assuming everything is still in stock. They never question my returns, esp. if the items are unused.

I probably will. Closest REI is an hour away but I am around there enough. Just ordered a REI backpacking pack for myself and it was just shy of $100. Looking for a filler right now.

Hard to argue with $20 free. Can always use more gear for scout camping.

$4.95 tape patches

Or $1 more for the roll. Good stuff to repair rips. A lot of other Gear Aid products for a few bucks that make for good filler items.

Great stuff and I have a roll in my gear (hard to argue with having more on hand). I'd just buy a can of isopro but that can't ship.

Lots of small filler items but would like it to be something I need or can use. I'll find something. Almost ready to just order a single tent stake.

My sons birthday is coming up and an extra $20 of gear for him will be good. He just got a backpacking pac for Christmas and now we can match.

Went with a nalgene 1oz container for just over a buck. It will get used. Dish soap or some other cooking need or toiletries.

If anyone else needs a filler.

I needed $0.07 to hit the threshold.

The only argument I have against these deals is if you have an REI credit card t really isn't that much better of a deal than the 15% cash back (10% regular, 5% from the CC) you get off full-priced items regularly and you are forced to use it in a very limited window.

Does this work if I pay for my purchase with an REI gift card?

It should. When you add $100 or more in items to cart online, the $20 bonus card automatically gets added. So it doesn't seem to matter how you pay. Too bad $100 REI gc is excluded from getting the bonus.

It should. The $20 GC is added as a line item in the order. Add something $100 to your cart and you'll see it.

Anybody know when they usually have their 20% off one full priced item? I remember it's a few times a year usually.
