I've got a couple of screwdrivers like this just because of Slickdeals and I can say that my Black & Decker with battery built-in lasts significantly longer on a charge and is less of a hassle to charge then this one.

This is the Tek4 older tech. The new USB batteries that charge via cable or a separate charger are the latest. Mind the difference if buying this.

Ive had one for about 3 yrs now .... no problems at all , I use it VERY often , orginal battery still works great (rarely need the backup battery I purchased) , basicly would not be without it . ~ I also gave 3 friends these as gifts about two years ago and they all loved the gift and still use them without insidant , still working great ~~~~~~ . (myself and gifted drill friends , we all do multiple projects ; home upgrades , electrical , computer build , audio restore , etc in an average week so these little gems get a good workout ) .
Iam probably going to grab another just for keeping at home for home jobs only .

IMO definitly worth the tiny investment price .

Was going to say this, my black and decker w the adjustable handle lasts longer and feels like it has more torque than my ryobi.

This is a good price. But the reviews for this one are not good. So I'm a bit hesitant. Most common complaints as per reviews - LEDs don't turn on till the head is turning. So they are useless since you can't use them to line up the screw. The bits don't seem to stay in place. The holder is supposed to be magnetic but supposedly it's not good and bits keep falling out.

Coupled with those complaints it'll be one more charger to keep around. Similar USB charging ones are $25. I'm not sure if it's worth the $10 savings when it has these issues.

Agreed and I am going to pile on here about the battery life. This is basically a wrist saver and speeds up working on kids toys, or anything held together with screws (as outlined perfectly above). They are strong enough to drive wood screws if building slatted Ikea style furniture (beds), but not strong enough to split the wood from over driving. It really simplifies the process. You can easily build a king size bed with 4 drawers off a single charge, it's really not hard to just charge after use. Most people don't work fast enough that the second battery is necessary, unless you plan to put in a full 8 hour day building Ikea style furniture.

Ryobi does have a new lithium USB line that has replaceable batteries like this one. they charge using a usb-c port. Ryobi is not going forward with this products Tek batteries. The lithium USB line is bigger, but many of the products are redundant and more expensive compared to the 18v line. I recommend sticking with 18v stuff and just getting a single 4v screwdriver as cheap as you can. Even with a proprietary charger (most are just a round tip), the tool will last way over 3 years of use even if you 'abuse' the battery due to recharging 'incorrectly'. If you are inclined you can replaced the internal battery and use a universal charger, but at that point you are better just buying a new 4v screwdriver. I mean $5 a year is not a bad return for something you will use anytime you would reach for a screw driver. I went extra cheap and bought the Ryobi Quick Turn from DTO reconditioned for about $12 or less.

If you really want replaceable batteries in a small size, and are not in a tool system, I recommend Milwaukee's 12v. You will need to be careful driving screws, but it will be way more versatile. For anyone else in a system, literally just buy any 4v screw driver and don't bother with replaceable batteries. Replaceable 4v batteries are just throwing money away unless you literally build Ikea style furniture for a living. The battery will die due to age before you get any meaningful use from it.

Oh yeah, this and a air popcorn maker are the top overlooked home warming gifts imo. They will actually get use and you will look super thoughtful vs the common stuff that never gets touched or seen again.

I have one that I keep in my tool box for the house and I like it for what I do with it. I use it to work on my guitars as well.
