You don't think $200 more is worth it for the Z6? Z5 looks decent but that 4.5 fps shooting rate is not good (compared to 12 fps on the Z6).

I own both and they have their pros and cons.... Just because the faster frames are better for the chance of upping your keepers, its not going to ruin any chance of getting keepers going with the Z5.

Meanwhile, dual SD slots. SD cards are much cheaper media than what XQD and CF express B are selling for.

Plus being able to pack lighter and charge via the camera directly with USB-C is great. Additionally, you can run the camera off of a battery bank and you don't even need to buy more batteries if you don't want to.

Sure if you truly need the higher frame rate then go with the Z6, bit i'd wager most won't care or ever really need it.

Take the Z6/7 fps with a big grain of salt:

From Thom Hogan's website:

Another thing to consider: the Z5 is basically a 4 fps camera, the Z6/Z7 models are 5.5 fps, and only the Z9 delivers faster (up to 120 fps) frame rates reliably. While Nikon markets the Z6 II as 14 fps, that's with a slide show in the viewfinder, and if there's any need to move the camera to follow the action, both the autofocus system and your ability to compose suffer.

Good prices on the:

Z6 II (Body): 1399
Z6 (Body) + 24-70 f/4 (Lens): $1399
Z6 (Body): $999
Z5 (Body): $799

If you need a lens, buy the 24-70 f/4 used/refurb for around $350 - $400.

I bought the Z6 refurbished a few months ago from Nikon at $999 and it's great. Literally came with a shutter count of 1 and looked brand new. Also bought the 24-70 f/4 for around $350 from MPB.

Thanks for the info. Those benefits of Z5 are definitely great but i do also need the higher frame rate for kids sports shots. I guess i will continue to wait for the Sony FF to go down in price.

I just brought a used A7iii for 900 this week. Should I instead get Z6 or Z6ii?

I've been using canon 6D (Mk 1) for years; mainly shoot on astro and street. Wanna to *try* portraits once a while. Color science is pretty important to me as my color vision is too bad to allow me "fixing" the color in pos. Low noise / QE / full well capacity is also pretty important to me for astro. I care very little about AF though.

Nearly all my lens are EF. Only have one FE and that's 28-70 kit lens.

If it's within the return period I don't see why not. But make sure you're quick since we don't know how long the current sale will last. But definitely worth trying since you'll be saving about $200.

hail no. you got a great deal on a7iii. multiply that by taking advantage of the vast catalogue of native lenses. i suppose you could adapt your ef lenses to sony if they are not worth much on the market.

I mean I haven't even received the first one, but placing another order now, and hopefully it won't get cancelled

Understood. Yeah place the new order and just return the other once you get it. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
Ironically I was in a similar situation a few weeks back. I purchase the D7500, but had to rerun it because it was defective. Nikon gave me a full refund . Luckily this sale showed up and I ended up re-buying for $200 less.

Bes of luck my friend.
