Thanks. Didn't get an e-mail but the offer was in my account.
Friendly reminder to never redeem your points as a statement credit for Citi double cash, just get the cash back deposited to your bank account. That way you can fully realize that 1% cash back on card payments.

Judging from previous Citi Double Cash Paypal offer (spend $200 get $20 back) I think 5% is on top of usual 2%. Actually it will be 1% + 5% + 0.95%(payment) = 6.95% .

Can you explain the .95% vs 1% calculation on the payment end of things?

I already did. I quote myself:

All Citi merchant offer rewards are posted as a statement credit. You don't get reward points on statement credit. In this case $100 PayPal transaction will earn you:
$1 - on purchase
$5 - merchant offer (it will be posted as a statement credit)
$0.95 - on payment (100 - 5 (statement credit)).
Grand total = $6.95 or 6.95%

Oh ok, I get it now. I was afraid I was overlooking something on standard 1+1 transactions. Thanks!

I used this promotion to make air ticket purchased and Citi statement didn't show payment made via paypal.
Citi rejected to pay the reward and said not much they can do. This is a big scam.

Yes I did. I made the purchase using 2 credit cards (split between Citi and Bank of America). The BOA statement shown the purchased made via PayPal; not the Citi statement.
So you can tell either Citi or PayPal tried not to honor the reward by playing words of game on the statement.

I want this card but there are no sign up bonuses. Leaning towards the Wells Fargo card even though I hate them.

Unfortunately this happened to me last time this was offered. In contrast, Chase is also good about honoring these types of transactions.
My lesson: never do airline purchases via PP with Citi offers. Personally, I think because airline tickets are usually high price items the airlines do some Paypal gymnastics in the backend and Citi is either playing dumb or not recognizing it.

I know, I wish this card offered a sign on bonus. Even $100 or something. I got the WF Autograph card recently and even though I dislike them, the card itself has some pretty good cashback categories, as well as cell phone protection. The only big thing missing is groceries but I usually shop at Costco which only takes Visa anyway.
