Buy a paperwhite, use it until BF, the send them for trade in towards buying newer kindles with BF prices. you will get atleast $20 and a 20 percent off coupon towards purchase of newer kindle then. essentially money makers.

2017 hd10 is almost completely unusable, it's slow has almost no memory and you and anyone you give it to (like your kids) will end up so frustrated with it that you'll daydream about ways to elaborately destroy it

Yeah. I have a current gen paper white for myself. I got the 2015 for my 6 year old and my wife still has a 2015 as well. I also got a 2018 for my oldest daughter so can't talk about that one yet but for the 2015 vs latest.

2021 does have usb-c and a larger flush screen. Performance is pretty good still but biggest thing is boot up is a bit slower (like 2-3 seconds) and page turn is slightly slower (.25 seconds around) but really she didn't care or notice. Loaded a bunch of titles from the kids subscription for her and been running great. The casing looks to have been replaced on the unit and screen / usb Jack was new as well. Might say 4gb is a bit small but for most epubs / mobis that is just going to be fine. Manga / cbz files might not be good for that and maybe the larger units would be better for that.

For 20 bucks , couldn't say no. Was waiting for the woot deal to pop up again to get everyone up on the paper whites and if they continue I will use for trade ins on Black Friday for the latest)

You can get the 2015 Paperwhite for another couple of hours, for 20 bucks. It is the equivalent of the current base Kindle, and runs current firmware. In for a backup.

These are not refurbished, they're simply returns (likely from trade-in) and roughly inspected. I ordered 2 2019 HD 10. 1 of them had a broken power button, so it won't even power on from the button. So if they actually refurbished it, they would have saw that issue. Easy fix for me, but I'll see what Woot says about it.

I'll just put up ifixit's guide on how to replace the motherboard. The shell is plastic and not glued down, so it's "easy" to pry it apart vs the usual glue. Once apart, it's pretty easy if you've worked on electronics before, which why I said "for me". Have you tried charging it to see if it powers on? Mine had the same issue, it won't power on with power button, but if you charge it, it powers on.

Thanks for the link, I had it in on the charger and wouldn't turn on, charges overnight and still won't, it's a bummer cause it's in perfect cosmetic condition..

Bummer, we're just being used as refurb workers. lol. Once we find out it doesn't work, we'll return and they'll know it's bad. Maybe that's cheaper than going through all of these and actually testing them.

Anyone else buy an oasis and got shipped a kindle paperwhite instead? It happened to me twice. Ordered the 8gb Oasis and next day I received a paperwhite. I called them for a replacement which was delivered today and same thing happneded again, they sent a paperwhite. The box has 2 different stickers. The sticker that seals the box says paperwhite but theres also another smaller sticker that says kindle oasis.Luckily woot didnt give me problems since its would seem suspicious. According to csr though, woot won't do a replacement anymore and I can only get a refund. Stupid waste of time.

For those who ordered the oasis, i would suggest filming your unboxing. Woot/amazon is great whenever there is an issue with orders but it wouldn't hurt to have proof.

Sorta. I bought a 2015 Paperwhite w/Ads but they sent me a 2019 Kindle (10th Gen) w/o Ads. A small sticker said 2015 Paperwhite but the box seal one said 2019 Kindle. Did you select I have some other order-related question the question about the order?

I called them both times. Funny thing I got a email from woot yesterday morning expressing their apologies for issues and asked if I wanted a replacement or refund. I did post on the woot deal about what happened. Took me by surprise as I never had a company be proactive and reach out like that.

I replied immediately and asked for a replacement but have yet to see any updates on the order page or a confirmation email.

Got my cancel email for my 2018 paperwhite Frown

Ended up getting a used-good one for the 11th gen that was also in near brand new condition for 69 bucks through Amazon. I'll take it for the little bit more in price.
