You can set ECO mode for the 7700X to force it to 7700 non-X settings and spend that $30 towards a nicer cooler.

Seems like a win/win?
Set to Eco mode & you're looking at a 7700 non-X for cheaper
Been abusing my 7700X since September. Noctua NH-U12S. Silent, cool, and fast. No regerts.

$30 less than the AMD Ryzen 7 7700 (non-x). That being said, I would rather have the non-x version.

Thanks. Don't you have to do that everytime you restart the computer via Ryzen Master? I know you can adjust BIOS settings, but I thought it wasn't a specific "eco-mode" but instead adjusting multiple power settings.

Also, I cannot run Ryzen Master on my existing PC (Windows 11) without disabling Virtualization Based Security (VBS).

Plus these Zen4 chips use a ton less power vs 13th gen on load

I know many people don't have microcenter near them, but if you do, 7700x + 32GB DDR5 6000 CL36 is $342.98. 7600x comes with 16GB single stick.

The iGPU in these latest gen of chips is better than Intel 13th Gen ? They should be able to do home office stuff and some light video and photo editing? I don't game and don't want to spend money on a dGPU.

I have a similar use case. From my understanding it's the opposite: 13th gen has stronger iGPU, those on the 8th gen are basically there for debug/booting without GPU. I have dual 4k monitors, I'm really concerned that the iGPU wouldn't be a great experience even for windows tasks. No first hand knowledge though...

The iGPU in laptop chips is better, but the iGPU in the Zen4 desktop chips are about as bare bones as you can get. I think it's something like 2 CUs compared to the mobile Zen chips having 6-8 CUs. So if all you need is office/productivity/web surfing you're good, but I'd say that any sort of gaming is probably right out.

So 13th gen meaning Intel, 8th gen meaning this AMD?

I'm not very familiar with this so trying to understand.

Or, you can OC the non-x and the cooler it comes with is still plenty to handle it, and you can still run it stock if you want.
