I can buy and drive my 2022 Ford Maverick 200K miles for the $24K price premium for "Mustang" EV.

The cost of these EV's at higher interest rates, higher insurance rates, and limited range is simply a budget buster for the average working person.

EVs are currently a rich person's toy.
My EV costs less to insure than my previous car even though it is 20k more in cost. The ford maverick is a awesome value and I want one as well

Why would you get one of these instead of a tesla?
Build quality and look.

Tesla not worth it unless their autopilot gets better.

Sure. Then the question is would you want a standard range Ford or an extend range Tesla...I'd def go for the tesla.
Sure Tesla has better range, performance, and much much better charging infrastructure.

But Mach-E has a much lower price of entry if you don't care about AWD or niceties like heated seats or pano roof. The Select RWD would be $40k after tax rebate while the cheapest Model Y would be about $7000 more.

Being able to do hands-off highway driving with Blue Cruise is nice too. That's a $2000 option on the Select and standard on the Premium. You can't get it on the Tesla unless you opt for the FSD for $15,000 .

Lol... at least $50K for an average car? Hard pass. Bring electric down to the same level as gas and I may consider.

The issue with this is you need the senate and president to sign it to make that change. Nothing is changing at all
Well, I wish you luck

I hear ya. I guess if you are deadset on a cross-over then Mach E has the lower entry price.

Model Y does come with Auto-pilot standard tho, which lets you do highway driving. No need for FSD.

There's a nice Chevy Bolt calling your name somewhere... It's a steal if you can get one without markup, with the tax credit.

Because the steering wheel doesn't fall off.

Tesla autopilot and enhanced autopilot doesn't allow for totally hands off highway driving like Blue Cruise and Super Cruise. I wonder if it's a hardware limitation or if Tesla is holding it back to make FSD more enticing.

Yes the Tesla build quality and fit and finish... austere and cheap feeling... and decisions like why on earth would you not also include a driver display (3 & Y)... on cars this expensive the extra cost would maybe be $400... completely ridiculous decision and it makes the interior look plain & dorky as well.

and getting back to build quality then there's the creaks and rattles that invariably come up in most, among many other similar build quality issues.

you may be one of the lucky ones that gets one with few problems but that's not the common experience. Tesla has incredibly inconsistent build quality / massive quality control issues. and they seem to just not care that much, because these types of issues have persisted for many many years.
Don't want a driver display,no creaks, must be 'one of the lucky ones' (highest customer satisfaction in industry).

Yep, you must be!

Where are you getting the highest customer satisfaction rating from? I know they edge out slightly in safety and certainly buying experience (but b.e. will be improving for Ford too in 2024), but other than that and especially the SC network, no so special w/definite issues in other areas as previously noted.
