This is straight up incorrect. They had crappy security on their cloud storage and deserve the scrutiny for it, but they were not doing more than that.
It was in a statement straight from Eufy's global head of communications. So either you are incorrect, or one of their top employees are incorrect. So....

First, the purpose of sending a user image from the eufy App to our devices is to give the local facial recognition software a baseline to run its algorithm. All facial recognition processes are and have always been done locally on the user's device. In the case of our Video Doorbell Dual, a copy of that set-up image was stored using end-to-end encryption on our secure cloud.

I respect that you are defending the good name of Anker - they make great plastic stuff to accessorize your name brand plastic stuff.
I would like to know how you know that they "didn't do more than that" ?? (With our pics i mean) Do you work for them or work in the security community??

I don't think you understand the statement from Anker. It says "It's important to note, that no user or facial recognition data has ever been included with the images that were sent to the cloud." All facial recognition is done locally. The only thing they have done wrong is a lack of E2E encryption. You shouldn't be trusting a company to encrypt your information anyway. Encrypt your own data with something with PGP encryption if you really want security.

I thought I seen "legit" people posting links in here yesterday when it used to be not so acceptable. What was the site everyone left slickdeals for when they went corporate years ago?
Anker is good, but their stuff seems to be overpriced now.
I don't get the HDMI interface. Does it take video input from a usb-c port and mirrors it as output on the HDMI interface? I guess that saves the need for one usb-c to hdmi cable?
That is called DP (DisplayPort) over USB-C ....so, you can use it to deliver second display from PC/Mac/phone USB-C port while charging your device.
that is super useful for many cases

This comment has been rated as unhelpful by Slickdeals users.
This was 16 in Nov, but SD won't allow posting it, at $32 is not a deal.
Yes, any 100W USBC cable has to be chiped, to prove to PS that it won't melt under the 5A current. I'm guessing it's in USB protocol or some FCC or ISO standard. Hopefully, PS manufacturers always put that chip-checking, otherwise, it's a fire hazard.
IDK why thy've been suspended but they've been definitely reinstated for $, considering the amount of posts by SD staff.
Makes me miss Selma
Interesting, I didn't know that. Literally only heard of them a few days ago and took a chance. But, after researching comparable units, $32 seems like a fair price for what you're getting (the one I got was $40 but it has more features than I wanted). I saw ones as low as $23-$25, but that's still within the same overall price range and a far cry from $16, and the $32 one includes a 100W (chipped?) cable. I may end up returning this if I'm not entirely happy with it and getting one from a better-known and regarded company, like Anker, even if it costs a bit more.
Btw I just saw this, one of the most well-reviewed such units, from UGreen, currently a lightning deal at Amazon for $40:
Btw based on the reviews it also appears to have the same issues with heat and the temporary disconnection of output when new devices are plugged in. Do Ankers have that too?

It has 3 USBA and 5 USBC, including 65w/30w x 2 ports, totally 200W, plenty for me.
