Overall bad business practice from wyze to use a proprietary USB L connection.

I can't reuse my 25ft cable for outdoor install, and there's no aftermarket long cable with that USB to be found anywhere

It's got a weird USB cable with the micro USB end shaped like the letter L. The cable plugs into the bottom of the base pointing straight upward, but the base is intended to sit or mount flush so the cable connector has a 90 degree angle to exit straight out of the back of the base.

Anyone know the current state of rtsp firmware for the regular v3? Not finding any working links but I'm sure they are out there.. the bigger question is does the firmware shipped with these units still allow downgrading?

Blind idea, but can you buy an adapter at the end to use old cable?

I bought it, used it, and returned it. The newer models are not eligible for Cam Plus Lite, and more importantly, at least the cam I purchased performed poorly. Extremely sensitive and would send alerts for even a speck of dust in the air. I have plenty of wyze cams and am familiar with adjusting sensitivity and settings and could never get the can to stop overreacting to non-event. Ended up returning and putting my v3 back up and everything works fine again (only notifies me when it identifies a person etc)

The app for their latest cameras requires android 7 and at least one of the devices I use for viewing cannot upgrade to that version.

For now I'll stick to v3 and v2 cams.

Wyze doesn't manufacturer any of it's hardware. They re-license/re-brand old products made by other vendors and then create software that runs on top.

This camera is actually a 2-year old camera, that is called the ATOM Swing.

I initially was intrigued by Wyze, but since have stayed away because you're essentially buying old tech that is marketed as 'New'. Sure it's cheap, but $100 +/- to have better camera resolution, better privacy visibility, better connectors (USB-C) etc. is worth it to me.
