i mean, no offense, but this statement pretty much invalidates everything you said here.

Salomon is widely known to be made for long narrow feet. that includes their ski boots, hiking shoes, etc. all their footwear. always have been, always will be. shoes arent one shape fits all. if you dont have narrow feet, why are you buying salomons? you should be looking at a different brand. lkewise you would probably be unhappy with a brand like rossignol or keens as they are made for wider feet..

idk what to tell you man. salomon shoes are literally widely known for narrow foot boxes. perhaps after all those years of wearing shoes, your feet were finally screaming at you telling you youve been using the wrong shoe this whole time.

i assure you... ive been wearing solomons since the early 2000s. they are the only shoe i wear because they are narrow. that is nothing new. to suggest otherwise goes against reality. there are about a million forum topics out there over the past couple decades... narrow feet? wear soloman. dont like solomans? its probably because you dont have narrow feet. this is nothing new.

Salomon's quality has gone down the drain like several other formerly good brands. I was a big fan, had worn down many pairs. The last pair I bought (the Alphacross) had, amazingly, the correct human foot shape, and was very comfortable. Bought a second pair, and the right shoe was about 1/2" longer than the left shoe. That piece of garbage went back.

Is this the only poor experience you have ever had or is this just one of many recent ones?

Most of Salomon's shoes I've tried in the last couple of year had really weird shape: long and narrow. What am I, an elf? I have normal feet (I think, not too wide, not too narrow).

i'll chime in here and say that the last few pair i have had have been the same quality they have always been, give or take. had one pair of boots that the souls needed to be re-glued, but i was using the hiking boots as work boots. for $55, im in for a pair for when my current ones wear out. wish they had the better laces, but ill deal with it.

Nope. I've been buying Salomons for many years, mostly trail running. Never had issues with the shape until maybe 5 year ago. And their Alphacross are the correct shape. Same with the quality -- on a couple of pairs the lugs were worn to the sole, and the shoes were still in good shape. My 1st Alphacross pair is already falling apart after not that much use.

Ordered this last time when it went on sale for same price.

Returned it right away. Shoe was true to size but very narrow.

Do you have more data on your shoes and feet? For instance what is the size of Salomon you buy and how wide are your feet? I've never purchased wide myself. But I don't think I have narrow feet. Still I'm unsure as I don't know what would be considered as narrow.

I know what you mean about long and thin. Not happy with Surarman Shoes from LOTR.

i buy the standard salomon size 13. i dont have my exact shoe measurements. they remeasure me every time i go in for new ski boots because thats where it really matters... but for shoes/boots, ive always been perfectly good with the solomons ive bought. columbias tend to be good for average width feet and im a fan of those as well, they just dont last as long, and arent quite as comfy. you can trace your foot and take measurements and get a pretty good idea. but if you want really good fitting shoes, go get fitted for shoes at an actual shoe store, or even better, a podiatrist. ideally both will also measure your arch height. then you can look into getting some awesome insoles as well, like superfeet.

Well, I gotta see my podiatrist soon for a follow up on my Achilles rupture surgery so I might as well ask.

ohh! yeah, do so, without a doubt! its a game changer for comfort. they can make you custom insoles too, which are pricey, but they will last you quite a few pairs of shoes and are so comfortable

Bought this exact pair and deal a week ago and love them! Fit great for me and love the style.
I used the MS Edge browser to buy and it found an extra $5.50 in discounts even with the FS as a new S/Plus member.
Only negative I've found is the flimsy laces.

You should try Vivo's if you're looking for footshaped wear. Their FG trackers are AWESOME.

Other than that I've heard good things about Altra for trail running / footshaped shoes
