I've owned both versions at different times and didn't notice a difference, but many enthusiasts disagree and the price for the J variant is usually a little more expensive.

This is a discontinued model, the J in its model number indicates it is from Japan (as opposed to K for Malaysia).

Does this mean the second language on the date wheel will be Kanji? From what I understand the Japan manufactured pieces are of better quality, so this is a plus for this deal.

J or K makes no real difference for quality.

Sometimes the J models will have Arabic as a second language instead of kanji so it's hard to tell what you're gonna get

OP please put "Automatic" in the title or first line of the description.

Also Jomashop listings should mention they are not an authorized dealer and warranty repairs will be handled through them, not the manufacturer. Need to be clear about this, especially when its a sponsored listing.

Is the MSRP of this correct? I tried looking for reviews on this model and found several that called it the best watch at $100. Can imagine inflation hitting these folks too, but 100 to 350 for it be to be a deal at 150 just seems off putting.

You always want the J versions if you are a Seiko collector. Resale to other collectors will be higher. Sometimes there are actually differences in the same model watch. The brushing and lug shape of my SKX009 is different on the J model and K model.

Are we sure about this, or is it just a rumor?
I had a Seiko Kinetic that needed repairs years ago. It was purchased in Italy and I had no receipt for it.
All they cared for, was that I paid for shipping.
I see this warranty comment on every Jomashop deal, and I'm always confused. Can anybody confirm?

Joma is a gray market dealer. Their watches don't come with a Seiko warranty. If you watch breaks, Joma fixes it in-house. I wouldn't worry much about a Seiko breaking. If it does, Joma fixes some very high-end watches so a basic Seiko wouldn't be a problem.

Now, as to whether or not Seiko fixes gray market watches...they normally don't. It's a big world with lots of people so anything can happen, but normally, no.

I'm pretty sure this has been addressed before, but how can Jomashop offer watches for such a deep discount? There's a Tag that I want and it's $800 below what I'm seeing at the Tag website. Same item number.

I bought this exact watch (except I believe mine is the Malaysia model) about 15 years ago for like 80 bucks. It is my favorite watch, period. Never serviced it once (didn't think it was worth it for an 80 dollar watch). I wear it almost every day and it gets beat up as much as I do. Movement finally stopped last year so I bought a replacement movement for about 60 bucks and installed it myself. This is basically the perfect watch - easy to read, day/date function, looks great, works great, and doesn't make you cry when it gets dinged up.

Maybe check the date on those reviews. I got this for under $100, but that was about 10 years ago. It's a great watch, by the way. The band could be heavier, but the crystal is very strong and it keeps time well.

Good buy for Made in Japan. But the J is no longer the rule, unlike the 2000s. Made in Japan Seiko nowadays explicitly say exactly that like this watch. There plenty of J models that are made in Malaysia, and on the lower end Seikos all the movements are made outside Japan, even if they are assembled in Japan. Collectors love Made in Japan but there is no real difference. Here's a video saying just that from a highly respected YouTube channel.

Grey Market get their watches from "other than official makers". This could be closeouts, bankruptcies, unclaimed freight, etc. The watches are legit as long as you shop from well-known grey market sellers like Joma and Ashford.
