The big difference is the glass. The aluminum has "Ion-X strengthened glass" while the stainless has sapphire crystal, which is stronger. I've had a stainless 4 for over
three years and have whacked its face many times and it doesn't have a scratch. My wife dropped her aluminum 5 onto our hardwood floor recently and the glass is shattered. She usually has a case on hers, which kept it safe for years, but she took the case off because some water got between the case and screen.

If you get one of the more recent models, it has fast charging which means you can toss it on the charger while you have breakfast and it's good to go.

I would also like to see extra battery life, but it does so much well that it's hard to criticize the battery too much. The Ultra exists which solves that, though spending nearly a grand for a product meant to be upgraded every few years is a hard sell.

Apple needs to make their watch chips as efficient as their M series. 1 day battery life is pathetic, even if they have the best sensors.

I've had both Garmin watches and one Apple watch. I will never go back to an Apple watch because it requires to be charged every day, which is most likely overnight and hence your watch can't track your sleep.

Almost got the garmin but it's too rugged. Wish apple came out with a better battery as well and solar would be a kicker

Solar!! Very few of us here get enough sunlight hence the growing need for Vitamin D pills. Why not wish for kinetic charging which will be amazing 👍🏻

What would you choose: this Apple watch 8 41 mm for $330, or Apple watch 7 $300 for 41mm, $330 for 45mm (e.g. on sale at Target)? There seems to be few differences between series 8 and series 7.

Thanks OP.. ordered one. I bought 40mm SE couple weeks back and it looks like a kids watch. Hopefully 41mm makes a difference.

I'm leaning towards the 45mm 7 at Target plus 5% off with redcard. I just returned a 41mm 8 to Walmart, think I want a bigger screen. Don't need the temp or crash monitoring hopefully are the only differences I am aware of.
