You should know the production of Goretex is one reason why your rain, water, dirt, dust, air, blood, and orange juice is contaminated with PFAS. You should know about the health and environmental risks these products have caused since the 1950s.
I was going to make the same comment. People should not support companies that contaminate our environments and ourselves. Goretex and 3M mainly are slowly killing us and you shouldn't put money in their pockets.

In for 1 Mitre Peak Jacket! Compared the price to Moosejaw and saw that it retails for $400 there. Seems like a great deal! My only concern is that the post mentions a "Lifetime Warranty" but when you look at their website it mentions that it's a "Limited Lifetime Warranty", which says normal wear and tear are not covered. I know with Patagonia gear, they often cover things like DWR coatings and minor rips and tears.
Anyone have experience with Marmot's warranty process?
Be careful of the Paclite used in the minimalist jacket. It's good for an emergency/once in awhile jacket but it will delaminate if used every day. Arc'teryx stopped selling jackets using Paclite.
How are these compared to the similar retail priced Outdoor Research, Arcteryx and Black Diamond versions? My Outdoor Research Bolin jacket is my good to right now.
Just as good. I have shells from OR, Arcteryx, and Marmot. Skinned and skied a couple laps in my Marmot Spire shell today. Would bite but it's obvious i don't need another shell.
What do you guys wear this for? Seems like it's for outdoor activities only and not really suited for just walking in urban setting
I'll use it for cold/wet/windy weather hiking but I think it can be used for climbing as well. If you will not be sweating while wearing it, it's probably an overkill.
Great choice. I don't think people realize how difficult it is to find this kind of pricing. Probably won't find a name brand Goretex 3L active jacket under $300.
REI used to sell their own branded jacket like this for about $200 but they discontinued them.
Reminds of the Spyder deal from 6 years ago where lots of people scored their jackets for 75% off.
I just bought an rei rainier? For $60-70 recently 2.5l

My minimalist jacket purchased 7 years ago still looks new. I am not wearing it every day, but it is used quite extensively (inshore sailing, skiing, riding motorcycle in the rain, etc), and I definitely wont call it a once in a while jacket.
Obviously, its a different story for people who wear hardshell every day...

PFAS are in almost every product you buy. There are hundreds of components in every car with PFAS. It's going to be hard to eliminate quickly.
