Can't recommend a Vizio TV whatsoever. At least not for a quality set. Had a nightmare with their P series that just kept getting worse with every firmware update. The best part is that if they break something with a firmware update, it doesn't get covered under their warranty. Only hardware defects. So they released firmware that completely broke Arc support and I couldn't even use Vizio soundbar with it.

Yes. Dolby Vision is the future. It has significantly better contrast and color. I like to say HDR10+ is the HD-DVD of display technology, while DV is Blu-Ray. Samsung needs to start paying that licensing fee. Even $200 Vizio TVs have DV.

From a technical standpoint, DV and HDR10+ are very similar. In the real world however, there is almost no HDR10+ content in comparison to DV. Virtually every director and producer of every movie and show and every streaming service, all support DV. A tiny tiny fraction support HDR10+. So on paper, they are similar. In practice, DV wins every time. Samsung not adding DV or AT LEAST allowing the TV buyer to pay for it themselves if they want to is very anti-consumer and why I won't personally buy Samsung TVs. Oh and they cheated to get better reviews too, kinda like VW and dieselgate if you are familiar.

That other guy's analogy to HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray was good. VHS to BetaMax if you are older lol. Samsung and HDR10+ lost their format war before 2020, and it wasn't even close.

Sony, LG, Vizio, TCL, Hisense, honestly probably every other manufacturer at this point all support DV. Like I said, anti-consumer...

Looking to replace my Samsung NU6070 (2018) 65" that has noticeable DSE with something else. 75" 120hz VA for under $1000 is ideal and this looks to check all my boxes. Any other suggestions? I have heard VIZIO is not the brand it used to be, should I wait for something else?

Additional TV related question. Is DV a big enough difference over HDR10+ to avoid Samsung? I keep seeing these good Samsung EPP deals but I hesitate to pull the trigger on a Samsung due to not supporting DV.

It's true, Vizio isn't the brand it used to be. If it were me, I'd wait for something comparable from a better brand. I'm looking more for 55-65" but it seems like I've seen some 75" deals on here recently. Im using a Samsung Q6FN from 2018 and have got along fine without DV but I know some folks swear by it.

I'm curious, how would they know it was the updates fault, what stops you from feigning ignorance and pushing a claim?

Their reasoning is that because it was a known issue with the firmware update. And that they're working on a new firmware that will fix the issue. Same line I heard after every update. One update finally put it into a bootloop where it wouldn't even start and they sent a tech out under warranty to replace everything in the TV. Had no audio so they replaced it with a refurbished TV that still had the audio issues over Arc/eArc

Well its not about licensing fee at all. Samsung own this HDR technology. HDR10+, which it uses in its devices and televisions. HDR10+ is an open standard that provides similar benefits to Dolby Vision and is supported by many content providers. Samsung may also choose not to use Dolby Vision in order to differentiate its products and create its own unique selling proposition.
In short, as long as HDR10+ exist, you will never see Dolby Vision in a Samsung TV.

In my opinion, U75H at Costco for $929 is still a better deal. It has got better specs and overall better PQ. You will also get 2% cashback if you use your Costco Credit card.

How are you going to offer a tv capable of dynamic hdr HDR10+ with barley any content compared to dolby vision 🤔?

That is true but most folks out in the wilderness does not even know that difference between HDR, HDR10 and HDR10+. As long as Samsung can differentiate their TVs with other key features like QLED, QD-OLED, Mini LED etc. people will fall for it

I picked this up for $999 around black Friday on Amazon. I'm extremely happy with the tv and consider it one of the best purchases I've ever made. It's responsive, bright, and pairs well with our wireless Roku sound setup.
