i don't have this model, but i currently have the REL 1508. I also tried the SVS SB2000 pro. they were about $1000 when i bought it back in the spring. i like the REL a lot more. the SVS app is cool and all but feel like a gimmick to me.

the REL is noticeably better when playing music. but when watching movies, it's hard to tell them apart. in the case of the 1508, it takes XRL cables and has a passthrough XRL, which is a huge plus. the lower models unfortunately do not.

in the appearance department, i think the REL is better too. SVS has the wood finish and the glossy piano finger print magnet finish. neither of which really works with most furniture. this REL sub is black but not glossy. it looks great

i like my 1508 so much that i just bought the 1205 sub from this sale for my summer house. i'm not even cross shopping at this point. i really like this brand.

What this sub needs is the name REL plastered all over it in a few more places.

Go with the REL from this deal, particularly the HT/1205.

With the current sale, the REL is punching well above its competitors at their respective deal price points (you're looking at the SVS-SB1000 at $400 and Monolith by Monoprice M10 at $450).

This would be a different story at normal price points, with more folks on the internet seemingly going for SVS or Monolith, but personally, if I didn't already have my sub setup and was in the market for a sub, I'd definitely go for this deal.

REL makes $10,000 subwoofers.

I can list 10 subs that are less than half the cost and eat that REL for breakfast.

This is like audioquest selling $1000 stereo cables. Means nothing.

Picked up a 1205 on the last sale for my home office. Was using a Kanto Sub8 paired with two Kanto Yu4 powered speakers. Was never really happy with the bass coming out of the Sub8 (not totally convinced it's not broken). The 1205 sounds great to me for music and is probably way overkill for this 140 sq.ft. room. Wasn't worried about the branding since it's under the desk anyway.

I've directly compared the REL with a Rythmik E15SE, SVS SB-2000 and Starke SW12. The Rythmik was the winner (as it should be), with this REL second, SVS third, and Starke fourth. If aesthetics are a factor I'd swap the REL and Starke around though.

I've heard people recommending the RSL Speedwoofer subs, but never REL subs. Seems suspicious.

Before I ordered Rsl speedwoofer mk2, I was watching these REL subwoofers. Unfortunately bb doesnt had them hooked up for listening rel and rsl is their site only. So I took a shot.

After going through some time reading, the Rel subs on these are of gen 1 and currently they got gen 2 which seemed to improve over gen 1 and they are about to release next iteration. Gen1 is end of life cycle. If I am buying, I dont want to buy old and dying line. So I went with latest rsl.

Anyway, I didnt buy and compare side by side. I bought RSL woth wifi adapter for $500 (no tax) and happy with its sound and done with it.

Just sharing incase I someone is checking on these details on rel.

I read forums where they did recommend rel only if budget permit as they are mostly music subs than ht subs. But at that price point most get many other options opened up and this sale is for older generation of rel.

I purchased 2xHT/1205 v.1 back in Feb 2021 for the same price. I upgraded from the Klipsch R-120SW because I wanted to go back to sealed box and needed something where the port didn't fire directly back into the wall as I'm somewhat limited in room arrangement.

I personally love them. I have them set up in a 5.2.4 system used for gaming, movies, and music, and I have zero complaints. I don't run them too hot, but I can definitely say that they have the ability to make themselves known if you want a bass heavy mix vs. a more blended sound.

For music, they do an excellent job of blending in and work great for a variety of musical tastes.

If you want them to hammer, they can. Opening scene of Blade Runner 2042, Ghostbusters Afterlife, any of the more bombastic FPS games on Xbox or Playstation. All sound great.

I also purchased a pair of Auralex Sub platforms to uncouple them from the floor because this room is a vibrating mess. I can definitely recommend buying those as well, vs. using the included feet.

My room is 10x12 so it's on the small side, which probably helps them out a bit. I don't know that they'd have the same level of slam in a bigger room, but that's pure conjecture.

Two REL 1203 or one Monolith 15 vs one HSU VTF-3 MK5 HP?
This deal is alive again: https://slickdeals.net/f/16383010-1-099-f-s-monolith-m-15-v2-15in-thx-certified-ultra-1000-watt-subwoofer-amplifier?v=1

$1,099 for the Monolith M-15 v2.

I'm still waiting for a replacement for the one they sent me though. Frown Dead on arrival.

Did you know REL rates their lower frequency at -6dB. No one does that. Do you know why? Because no one would buy their subwoofers for HT if they posted that rating at -3dB.
Came here to say this. Deceptive advertising like this really makes me skeptical about everything having to do with this company and their products.

I have the HT1205. I am very impressed with it. I have also worked at 3 stereo/home theater shops, including owning my own. And I have personally built hundreds of custom subwoofers professionally for over a decade.

It's a badass sub. For the Price, you cannot beat.

You think REL isn't an internet focused brand? The whole premise with REL is using lightweight materials for efficiency. Thin stamped baskets, the same class D amplifiers everyone else is using. Less coil and a smaller magnet on the drivers to keep the weight down. They are not using better materials.
Sealed subs are great for music. Guitar amps have tiny magnets and cheap stamped baskets for quick response.

They have a good product. They need to lose the NASCAR advertising. It's tacky, especially on the feet and top.
These are very fair prices for a great sealed musical subwoofer.
There isn't gold or diamonds in these boxes. Just a well measured, sealed box with a basic amp and lightweight driver.
You have no idea what you're talking about.

I just purchased both of these and I give the edge to RSL.

Agree its a pretty slimy thing to do. But really no one should be buying these subs for home theater unless they like modest bass. These are great choices for music or maybe a small living room but there is no comparison to a ported sub.
