It's about convenience. I bought it from Costco but paid $5 extra to ship it to the store (it would get stolen from my porch), but I have a membership. My local BB is closing up so they aren't getting new merchandise. MC is close to me and doesn't charge for picking up in-store.

Side note, I think this is the best price point for the device. It'll be the last Lightning (don't like) and home button iPad (like). The end of an era. It'll last me at least 5 years and still be better than any Android tablet on the market. And I'm stating that as an Android phone user since the OG Droid and Windows user since I built my first AMD K6 desktop in HS. Apple makes the best tablets, period.
It has been this price for multiple times and from other sellers like bestbuy costco. Don't really see the benefit to buy it from MC.

I was considering getting a cheap iPad after selling my iPad Pro (2018) that I didn't need anymore. When I had my iPad Pro, 80% of the time I used it for streaming and 15% was just browsing the web.

I agree that Apple makes the best tablets, but I would argue that they may be still overkill if you're mainly using the device for streaming. I decided to go with the S6 Lite which will cost me $170 net. The main reason is that for streaming purposes, it has solid sound with a 2 stereo speakers instead of speakers on one end. Also includes headphone jack, expandable storage options, and responsive s-pen stylus, which are also nice bonus (I actually enjoy browsing with a touch device for better precision). Both are 60hz screens and the iPad has a non-laminate display.

If had interest in gaming, then it would no question iPad. I use a steam deck for mobile gaming though and nothing else really compares. Browsing will be smoother on iPad only for heavier website which I don't normally frequent so I don't really care.

All my devices are USB-C so iPad would be a set backwards for me there.

Resell value wise, I can see an iPad (2021) going for $150 in a couple years on Swappa where a S6 Lite should get you at least $80 bare minimum (I've sold plenty of old devices on Swappa before). Theredore the resale differential for me between the two doesn't matter since I paid much less for Tab S6 Lite.

Regardless, still very good deal for most at this price.

As for background, I've owned 2 versions of iPad Pro in the past, Nexus 7, and Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (I actually loved this little guy - it was a fantastic tablet).

Interesting. What your opinion on the Mini 6?

Same. I type this on an iPad Air 3, with my S21 Ultra sitting next to me. The fruit does tablets right, even if their phone system kinda sucks.

Lol.
Better?

E.g.
Samsung Galaxy tab ultra s8.
Oled. Period.
Faster pen response rate, 3x faster.
Flexible windows and sideloading.
Excellent game emulator performance
Etc.

Wouldn't touch an iPad nowadays. Even got the entire ecosystem free from iPhone to iPad to macbook and got rid of them all because they all do less than better competitors....

....

That said, good price for a basic web/media/light gaming tablet.
