There are plenty of folks who are super loyal to Asus motherboards. All comes down to personal experience.
The Z690 version of this board with wifi 6e is only $160 on newegg and is a better value with support for the much higher performance intel 12th and 13th gen CPUs
My AsRock z390 phantom ITX disagrees. OC i9-9900k at 5.1 for 6 years.

All brands have good and bad models. Just have to pay attention to how they design their power phases and what quality components they use.

Pretty sure if everyone showed up to comment they'd say:
Last gen - forgetaboooowwwwt it
obsolete
Yea but if you're not building something for the latest/greatest then this is a great deal

Basically, buying this commits you to a previous gen processor and I hear the 12th gen is supposed to be a big improvement over the 11th. I don't know how thats calculated or understood - but its what I read on SD.

But, its a legit board. I'm running the Z390 Prime and really love it. It doesn't make sense for me to go from i7-9700k to an 11th gen. But, I did look up to see if it would work and was planning on snagging one.

I think its a good find. Especially for those who roam around in the previous gen shopping bins looking for good deals.

I've had both MSI (a grenade board) and lots of Asus and liked them both. Even an Asrock Z270 that is still plucking away as my Plex server.

I've been warned away from MSI, because in the stories of my friends and colleagues they don't honor their warranties and have crap for support.

I say this 100% on their word - it's been a decade since I've been warned off of them and I haven't bought a single product of theirs. My tech ties are deep. They could have the best stuff around, but since they hurt my friends I avoid them.

I've been building PCs since the mid 90's BTW.

My AsRock z390 phantom ITX disagrees. OC i9-9900k at 5.1 for 6 years.

All brands have good and bad models. Just have to pay attention to how they design their power phases and what quality components they use.

Another plug here for asrock. Best bang for buck, and longevity.

Good deal though!

Have to agree here, the 12th and 13th gen with the new core design is so much faster than anything before it's time.

This is only a good deal if you can find processor for at least 30 to 50 perfect less for 10th or 11 gen.

Don't mistake the 10th and 11 gen were good, it's just the 12th and 13th make a big improvement for Intel in regards to speed and performance.

Same here but with an 8700k @5.1... For I guess 7 years.

Asrock is a hit or miss. I have a Z690M in an ITX build and it sucks badly. The bios limits the boost duration with no unlimited option and the VRM cooling design is non existent. I should have went for a similarly priced Gigabyte board instead.

Maybe their higher end Taichi boards are okay.

Which cpu should I get it if I want to use this motherboard for a plex server? I'd need it to support 3 to 4 4k transcodes at the same time.
