Be warned there is a firmware bug that may cause your Windows system to flat out CRASH. Been an issue for a long time and WD still hasn't announced an ETA on a fix. If I could go back I would have paid a little extra for the P41 Platinum which gets frequent good sales. It also performs better with higher efficiency and also has hardware encryption unlike the WD SSDs.

Is that only an issue if it's a boot drive? Or just added as a drive on the computer in general?

399 for the 4tb one, same on Amz. Tempting. I already did a 1tb upgrade on PS5, and it's not enough. The stupid games are so huge now, I filled up the onboard nvme AND the 1tb expansion.... AND I have a 1TB external USB SSD just for PS4 games.

Not looking forward to re-downloading 1tb of games though... PSN is so slow that would take days.

edit - 2tb is 179. Why is 4tb more than double the price? sad face

Should of gotten this instead of the samsung 980 pro 2tb with heatsink for $150. Could of saved $55 as I don't need 2tb.

Mine is installed as a secondary drive just for gaming and it completely crashes my Windows 11 requiring a forced restart. Even worse, the crashes occurred when I was just web browsing and not even gaming.

System never crashed since building two years ago. Within a week of dropping in the SN850X, two crashes! It's nice WD says they are working on a fix, but the fact it's taking this long and they won't even provide an ETA makes me fearful they are quietly trying to kick it under the rug.

Wow expensive. 1TB SSDs are down to $48. Even a performance version doesn't warrant the 2x price increase especially when there is a massive oversupply of NAND memory right now.

Can I use this straight to PS5 ? Is Heatsink necessary ?
It was my understanding that SSD have to be m.2 in order to be compatible with PS5. But someone else already chimed in indicating they're using it with the PS5.

So now I'm confused. Perhaps someone can shed light on this.

This drive is M.2. M.2 is the form factor. NVME is the type of flash memory used.

Yeah, I have a 500 GB drive in my gaming PC and games are just ridiculous now. Some are close to 100 GB for one game. I've been thinking of going to 1 TB, but think 2 TB is going to be necessary.

There is no such thing as hardware encryption. It's a gimmick. They can't encrypt. There's only software encryption which truly encrypts.

Huh??? $48 1TB (M.2 PCIe Gen 4) SSDs are low end, and I'd certainly never buy one. They more than likely have QLC Nand (garbage in my book), have low TBW numbers, no DRAM cache, and much shorter warranties.
