Its easy to have the best of both, we just added a thin yoga matt cut in 1/2 on the inside of the toboggan with hot glue. We did this on 2 of them and they've never come out.

Just FYI, 35" is short. These are less than 3' long from front to back and you lose a few inches due to the lip.

These will be way more durable than the foam ones at Costco but they're definitely kid-sized and not for adults or teens.

Between these hard plastic vs the reinforced foam ones at Costco, what are the pros and cons?

I don't like the Costco ones very much. The piece of plastic they attach to the bottom isn't very slick and scratches easily which causes even more resistance. Also, the way they attach the plastic to the foam is with tabs that protrude through the bottom. Though they try their best to smooth them they create even more resistance. I can't speak to this REI one but looks like if you had a powder type snow it'd be better, especially with the higher sides. Costco one is great for ice where your pansy a$$es need cushioning or dragging behind a UTV where overcoming friction isn't an issue 🤗

I have both and love the Costco version way better. It goes much faster and you can ride on your belly. I weigh 185 and the foam cracked the third season. I've been using it two seasons later with cracked foam but the hard plastic is still intact. I am taking it out this weekend. Keep in mind I live in so cal and only hit the mountains a few times a year. Just my 2 cents

Personally I like the hard plastic better. I had the Costco one and when having my kids use it on hard, icy snow it actually cut up the bottom. It is more comfy but it was not robust enough for my little destroyers.

I ran over a sticking out root on the costco one and it punctured through almost giving me an a**l. I doubt this will resist that kinda impact tho 🤣

These are super thick plastic and I'm sure they will last longer than 10 Amazon sleds. Grabbed 2 for the kids

I'm not a fan of these plastic sleds compared to inner tubes. Often they don't go straight unless you steer by digging one of your boots into the side.

However if you don't like it, it's still a useful way to haul dirt and branches around the garden.

Used it once so far and it held up and ran well on hard-packed snow. Seems like it'll last a while. There are three sloppy injection points on the bottom that you'll want to sand down to prevent drag but that is my only minor complaint.
