Decent deal on "grade a" Optiplex Windows Pro desktop for $319 (519 with 200 off).

i7-8700 with 32gb ddr4 w/old 2gb radeon r5 430, and 512GB ssd. USB-C w/displayport for 3rd out = very decent little triple-monitor stock-trader and number-crunching workstation for $320 shipped.

Always liked the i7 8700; this antique should crunch numbers swimmingly for the next decade. RAM and CPU alone get you to over $300. Decent deal--needed a cheap workstation that still had some grunt.

Thank you, OP.

Yes…no deals. Feel free to post one you think is s great deal

Dell refurb are 3+ years old and they have fake prices with coupons EVERY week. 30-40% off is normal
Glen's an expert and taught me about getting the cashback. First register with Cap On Shopping. Don't need to be a Cap One card user. Search Dell Refurb cashback offerings. May not get much many times. Keep checking. One day, you'll get a 20%/30%/40% offering. It may not need to be for the exact product you're looking for. For example, I chose a laptop cashback and got the cashback for a non-laptop. I'm not sure how Cap One would know by just a transaction total. It'll take 5-7 days likely to see it in Cap One. Then it will take awhile before you can convert it to a gift certificate for a vendor.

Like all cashbacks, it's not perfect; but Capital One is a large reliable financial institution. If you've done it correctly, they're not going to deny it later.

Don't hate the cashback if it only shows you 5% or whatever. Just keep trying every day or a few times a day. Add something to the Dell Refurb cart then remove it. Play with it. With modern AI these days, they'll get a signal that you didn't make a purchase and suddenly you get a better cashback (only a guess).

Choose the Dell Refurb deals regardless of the cashback. However, if you get a 15%-40% cashback, it's gravy. You know that with Cap One you'll get the credit eventually - as long as it shows up within a week. If it doesn't show up as a pending within a week, then you might not have done it right. Maybe you were trying to work more than one cashback, or you deleted the cookies before purchasing from Dell Refurb. Whatever.

If you want a seasoned expert's advice, ask Glen.

Yes, just received my cash back on a Dell Refurbished purchase from last week. It was 30%, but I think it's 21% right now.

Can it also be used with paypal as payment method to essentially stack 2 cashbacks (sometimes paypal also offers cashback)?

Thanks for sharing this. Overall the specifications looks great for the price. But I just noticed this doesn't have WLAN (wifi) so folks will have to been external wifi adapter
Yeah. $8 usb 3.0 adapter necessary or a home network (I have then sitting around : )

On the other hand, $20 usb3.0 adapter may be better than any card available at the time of this machine's manufacture around 3yrs ago.

For me is nbd for a workstation/office machine, but could understand how having to equip/setup wifi could be daunting for someone who just wants easy.

Also have to upgrade from the Windows 10 Pro it comes with to Windows 11, so.. there's no such thing as a free lunch here : )

15% restocking fee
Only if not defective. There is no restocking fee for defective. As a merchant who sells vrick and mortar and on the web, I find it amazing that many people expect free return shipping on "shoppers remorse" returns. I guess brick and mortar stores should give you return gas money and pay you for yourtime to get back. This is going to go away soon. Retailers/etailers are starting to all tighten up.

Most laptops do not have an RJ-45 connection anymore. If you are going to hardwire, I'd recommend a USB-C or 3.0 Docking station. Give you RJ-45, multi-monitors, real keyboard/mouse , etc. I just bought some Dell Wireless Keyboard/Mouse Combo's bluetooth for $80 a set that will pair with 3 devices and change on flip of switch. When I'm home I have my business laptop, my gaming laptop, and my desktop all plugged in to my 49" Samsung monitor..Now 1 keyboard/mouse and just change input. I didn't realy pay for them --some of the gift cards ($625) from the Dell monitor deal awhile ago.

Yup. I've done it many times. I look for units "on-sale, percentage off", coupon code, CapOne CB, CC CB, and then when I use the rewards I get CB on what I spent at soem stores. Some CB sites give you a bonus 5-6% if you take a Visa gift card instead of cash. Trust me..I've mastered the art of milking it. Not just Dell Refurb, Dell "regular, B&H, Lowe's, Kohl's and a few others. It's cheaper net to me then buying from my wholesale vendors. The only thing tht sucks is when you brag to your friends how little you pay for stuff, they'll haunt you to shop for them and with them. Car Dealers all know me. I'm usually in one or another with a friend or family member every month.

1 year warranty is very short, was hoping to get something that is reliable and can last minimum 4-5 years

which credit card would give the best extended warranty?
The standard warranty on new computers ecepting some high end models is 1 year. Most refurbs are 90 day....Dellrefurbished is 100. Extended warranties can be purchased from multiple entities like CPS, Allstate (Squaretrade), etc. Most electronics fail in the first 90 days. 4-5 years is actually not realistic for a refurb. After 3 years of use, a battery is usually needed. Technology has advanced I tell all my clients to spend less, upgrade more frequently. Plan for 3 years and it lasts longer---wonderful. Think of it this way. $10 a month for 36 months is $360, $20 is $720. As much as most people use one these days for me I'd say $1 a day of use is very cheap...In three years that's $1100.

1 Year warranty is very standard. The vast majority of new laptops have the same 1 year warranty. How long the warranty is does not equal how long something will last. I have a lenovo T430s business laptop with a 1 year warranty that has lasted me 10 years (from 2012) without any problems. Business laptops like elitebooks and lattitudes are built to last even if they have short warranties.

idk about credit cards.

Also it's like 200 bucks. You can literally buy a new laptop every 1-2 years at that price compared to the price of a typical $800-$1000 new laptop.
Bingo. Buy 2 they're small.

Wow GlenC, thank you for the insight! I recently just got a 30% CB offer from Capital One Shopping. Is this the highest it goes? Also what CC give you discounts for Dell?

Something extra, Chase offers has 5% Dell, thought it wouldn't work for dellrefurbished but I received from the last order. Yes it works with CapOne CB

One question if anyone knows, can I use the original warranty of the laptop that has not expired? It seems it requires warranty transfer but we do not know the original owner...

I activated 30% rewards last time, and they apply only 7%! I wrote them and they said it all depends on the website.
They show crazy amounts of cashback offers, but nothing is guaranteed. So think twice if you decide only for cashback.
