Verizon
For those who like their service and don't think that they will want to change a carrier for three years.
New or existing line
And have old Samsung laying phone laying around
After e.g. $800 trade-in credit for S8 or even S7
S23 Ultra - $400 - 36 payments x 11.11
S23+ — $200 - 36 payments x 5.55

Price goes up if you
payoff early or quit Verizon before 36 months.

"Cannot pay off early"
Since when? Where did you see this in the terms?
I seriously doubt verizon would go that route as A) they still get paid, and B) most people paying off a device usually end up doing so to upgrade early. If this were the case then Verizon would be disallowing early upgrades which would only hurt them.

You're not forced to stay with Verizon. You just lose any remaining payment credits, and your balance would be immediately due. The title says nothing about trade-in. You can't leave that out.

I think we should have a contest to see which S23 post received the most TDs.

Why do phone deals always get the TD? It's all relative, one of them at least has to be more value than the other promos.

In case with S23 series it's probably the ones with least TD then. The worst it is the more TD it will get. Also I think Google Fi is the only one which is still worth for someone who wants them right now.

Still best deal in my eyes
As I don't plan to switch from Verizon
And
I can trade my old s7 for same trade-in value as iPhone 13pro max or s22

Im trying to figure out the fine print. Seems that you must have the "Get More, Play More, Do More or One Unlimited plan" to get that 800 trade-in credit. If you have an "older" unlimited plan like "The New Unlimited Plan" then your tradein is worth like $17 and not $800

I'm sure their main thing is to make people switch to "better" plan and I mean for them. I would be careful not to agree to things one might regret later and read everything especially the small fonts

Hi All,

I can't understand why so many Thumbs Down. Independent of this posted thread I stumbled on this great option after calling Verizon. Because I signed up for the deal myself today I can give you the details and hopefully it could help clear some things up. I am hoping it can possibly help others.

I got the S23 Ultra for me and S23 for my wife today. We currently have quite old phones (but they are on the list of eligible trade-ins) and we are currently on a grandfathered old legacy plan which is no longer offered.

We had 2 options:

1) Receive $800 for each trade-in phone BUT you must have a 'premium' unlimited cell plan (Play More) which is the cheapest qualifying plan available.
This would knock off $800 from the $1200 S23 Ultra and essentially make the S23 free by reducing the $800 price to 0 after the $800 credit
Total cost of $400 for the 2 phones that is spread across 36-Months => $11.11 per month for 36 months and each month you receive $22.22 in credit to
help payoff the phones which accounts for the $1600 credit on the 2 phones.
Meaning, if I wanted to theoretically LEAVE after 24 months, I would owe Verizon the remaining $11.11 x 12 months payments I still
had not made on the phone for year3 PLUS an additional $22.22 x 12 months remaining of UN-realized credit they would have issued me in the last
year. You would need to have $399.96 on-hand to leave after 24 months. You would have already paid $11.11 x 24 mo in years 1 and 2.
Total paid for phones over 2 years and to leave (not including time value of money) = $666.60 (still a great price for 2 phones)
2) Receive $400 for each trade-in phone BUT you can keep your EXISTING NON-premium plan.
This would knock off $400 from the $1200 S23 Ultra (resulting cost $800) and essentially make the S23 cost $400 by reducing the $800 price after
the $400 credit
Total cost of $1200 for the 2 phones that is spread across 36 months => $33.33 per month for 36 months added to my bill.

VERY IMPORTANT for either OPTION: You must pay full taxes on the purchase price AND $35 per upgraded line on some activation BS. For these 2 phones it was ~$140 in taxes and $35x2 for 2 phones. => ~$214 due right away

In the end I decided to keep my old plan. I should add that the PLAY MORE plan is pretty good on 'value' since it includes the 5G Ultrawideband AND comes with HULU and Disney+. However, in the end I decided to keep my old plan. Yes, I don't get as fast 5G (only have normal 5G now). The thing is 1) the ping on any of the cell is rather high regardless and I do NOT download huge files so it would not help me personally in my normal browsing etc and 2) I don't have issues with my 5G being throttled and my data usage is relatively tame. For me it would be extra cost with no 'true benefit'. I also don't currently use/want Hulu or Disney either. If I had taken the newer plan, I'd end up continuing to pay on a more expensive plan after the 3 years and lose my legacy plan.

Basically two really nice new phone for $1200.....I was just about to shell out almost $2k for S22's. Instead I end up getting the newest phones and upgraded features for less. We tend to keep our phones longer anyhow. It's a real PITA to change over all those apps and we need our phones for life and work so we avoid changes until its really necessary. Of course, if you're a premium plan data user already its really a sweetheart deal of $400 for 2 flagship series phones....hard to complain.

ALSO it wasn't something I was wanting to do but I asked for a friend that is also wanting to upgrade and he has a much newer/nicer phone. The Verizon associate confirmed that even a cheap phone on the list still qualifies for the $800 credit and he can buy one on eBay for only $50. THEN he can turn around and sell his expensive current phone for $500 and get enough to basically offset more of the remaining cost (also remember the taxes and upgrade fee I mentioned).
Verizon said they will accept any phone on the list that is in working condition and battery intact. They don't care about scratches or even a small crack. It doesn't have to be a Verizon phone or active on the account etc. As long as the phone is not flagged as stolen.

Hope it helps my SD peeps. Getting a decent deal takes time and it's not fun to reinvent the wheel/deal.

Sincerely,
Dealz

if you pay $10 more for the plan but get an extra $400 on the trade, doesn't that cancel out the cost of the plan... technically it's $360 over 3 years, so a $40 savings

I am ready to bite but I am freaked out by the thousands of posts from people with trade-in issues with Verizon. Is it as bad as it seems? I have an s20+ with a cracked back but it shouldn't be an issue as per the promotion

Hi ChillO,

My case is a bit unique in the sense that I have a legacy plan and 4 people in my family plan. To qualify I had to pay an extra $15 for each of the 2 lines upgrading phone.....AND because I am disturbing the legacy plan, the remaining 2 lines have to go to the lowest tier of a 'current' plan costing me another $5 each. All-in-all I would have to pay $40 more per month for service. So, within 20 months ($400x2 additional savings for upgrading both phones divided by $40 per mo addtl service cost) I would have 'used up' the benefit of the added discount. My slower plan still has 5G and meets all my needs so I presume I will not have any need to upgrade service speed in the next 20 months. I just didn't want to be kicked out of my legacy plan after some time just to try and get the discount. The Verizon associate was kind enough to run the numbers for me with NEW and OLD plan and phone costs/discounts per month. Keeping my old plan still saved me ~$20 each of the 36 months AND importantly at the end of that I get to go back to my same old plan cost that I pay today.

Hope this helps,
Dealz

Naturally, I am also concerned about this trade-in factor but I already did the deal.
I called to find out info and then call back after work to complete my transaction. I was very transparent about the condition of my phones since I didn't want any issues. BOTH associates were explicit in saying that they wanted to note any physical damage BUT as long as it was in good working and wasn't bashed in on the screen it was fine..... so long as the battery was intact, none of that would affect the $800 (or $400 depending on the deal you accept) trade-in value. I felt comfortable since they were so adamant. IF I have issues it will be because I was lied to....twice....with the same exact wording used. Best info I can offer TealMaid.
